Pontypool RFC in relegation legal challenge

It's a pity that they might be relegated, but it's something which has to be done. The premiership is nowhere near the level required, and cutting it down to 12 teams is a sensible first step.

The fact of the matter is that Pontypool are down towards the bottom of the table and have rubbish facilities. If it wasn't them, it'd be another team that's more deserving of playing in the new premiership. There's also the requirement of balancing the number of clubs affiliated with each region as well.

Times change, Pontypool can't live off it's former glory of supplying the 70's front-row for ever. Historic teams sometimes get relegated, they've gotta live with it unfortunately, and if/when promotion/relegation is re-introduced to the premiership, they can try to force their way back in.

Here is the league as it ended....neither Bedwas or Newport were considered, but the WRU barrister says it's not about roofs on stands, so not rubbish facilities either.................

Pontypool sadly have not moved with the times. To improve the standard of the Welsh Prem you got to ring fence to ensure that all the best talent / players are playing in the best league. By cutting teams who have performed poorly over the last couple of years the WRU are trying to rid of the poor standard of play and by doing this the WRU in theory should have a league of better standard.
 
got to say that your argument would hold more water if you had backed it up with proof..........sadly you haven't and i suspect it's because you can't.
Did you look at the finishing table that i put up:?

My argument does hold water, Pontypool are not good enough. I have read enough about Pontypool RFC recently in match reports, what others have said to make a good solid conclusion or the fact that if you look over the last 5 league tables, there is a team that constantly appears in that bottom 3 ... Pontypool. They are simply not good enough, as Dull has also mentioned they cannot live on their old rep of having produced such legends as the Pontypool Front Row. It's simple poor facilities and poor squad means not good enough for the new league.

Sadly you are still wrong.............it's not based on the last 5 years, it's based on the last 6 years. But hey, no one knew this at the start of the season.
If they had Bridgend, who two seasons ago weren't even in the Premiership, would now be staring right down the barrel.
As I've said before ACCORDING to the barrister for the WRU facilities, poor or otherwise have NOTHING to do with their decision.

so given the above what did they base their decision on?

Can anyone tell me?

They're being put down because they're bloody muck. In the last few seasons they've finished:

12th (2012)
12th (2011)
13th (2010)
13th (2009)
DNP (2008)
DNP (2007)
16th (2006)
12th (2005)

You have to go back 7 seasons to find a year that they weren't in the back three (if they were in the Premiership at all). Looks an open and shut case to me.

LOL ... I couldn't be bothered to go the 6th year because I actually made my point. I don't quite understand what you are frankly on about with the last 6 years, I was making a point that in the last 5 season they have been dire. Face facts sunshine, Pontypool have been dire on and off the field.
