please I'll take anyones advice I have a game two weeks from now and Im very furious about what happenned and I'm giving the other team all I have.

Weaknesses:
  • tackling someone when their running straight to me, maybe just tackling in general.
  • If someone is gonna run me over how can I make sure I can still try to get him down

Hey, well a little bit about me, I just turned 16 on august 20th, I'm playing both sides flanker.

I live in the united states but my team "stingrays" is an all polynesian team (lots of other competition),

today I had my first official game against a college. I was very excited for this game and trained my

hardest, I'm 210 pounds 5'8 and I can bench ten pounds above my weight. but something

happenned during my game ten minutes into play someone who does not even show up to practice

forced me to bench :(:(and he ended up playing the whole game without my team captain

knowing. I know what your going to say, why didn't you tell your coach, thing is were a very

disfunctional team but manage to win games.

Good morning, from what I understand there is not really a structure in your team.
Meaning that you need to work on your weaknesses and hopefully your boys will back you up and give you some credit to play an entire game.

Good luck

If somebody is runing strait at you go forward the longer you like them run the more momentum they gain and be on the toes of you feat if it's one on one that way your can change direction faster.

Firstly, if someone's running at you don't panic. Be confident that you can take them. You sound like a strong guy, a hell of a lot stronger than me. Not too many players should be able to push you over.

These are some tips for when a player is running directly at you which can often be very intimidating when you're starting out.
Don't wait for the attacking player to come to you, you go at them. Don't take your eyes off them. Don't look at the ground and wait to be smashed or side stepped. Hit them low with your shoulder, not your arm because they'll just push that thing outta the way. Wrap your arms around them forcing their legs together and you'll be able to bring them to the ground with no hassle. Get straight back up. Steal the ball. Go score a try.

Repeat 5 times.

yeah I sorta just decided to pay no attention to everything besides the plea for tackling advice. it all seemed very confusing and incomprehendible.

If someone runs right at you get your shoulder and ram it right into their chest....with your strength this will probably got you through the game or just get one of your mates to show you the correct techniqe eg. foot positioning etc

As someone who is 6'2'' and now well into his 110kg's, I'd recommend three things.

1. If a guy is fast and big, go for the legs. Forget if he gains a few meters. Run at him, stay nice and low, and wrap both arms as tight as you can. You sound like you have plenty of strength, so that should be no trouble. Do not be intimidated!
2. If it's a guy like me, who loves to be fed off the base of the ruck, while in full momentum, make sure you close the gap as much as possible. The hardest tackle I've ever had was a Fijian guy who had a similar build that you have, he hit low knocked the wind out of me. Big guys hate to get hit in the stomach. (Not me though, I'm glorious).
