Its hard not to feel sorry for Delmas considering he was hired and fired from Stade Français in a similar manner a few seasons back.
Perpignan have been surprizing for quite some time. I never quite believed the side were Top 14 Champions in 2009. They defeated far better sides in the Semi and Final (SF and Clermont). The coach has now gone as has the team, or so it seems.
Some work to do on the playing roster as there are some rubbish players. If I was a recruiter for the club I´d be thinking I really messed things up as many stars are aged. Henry Tuilagi, Marius Tincu.... Really the club is now a genuine midtable side. It has significantly inferior players to the likes of Toulouse, Racing Metro, Stade Français, Montpellier, Clermont, Biarritz and Toulon. Castres and Bayonne can lay claim to being superior too. I think Perpignan has seven good players and the rest are not up to the standard required, i.e. they are not good enough to a Top 14 championship. The likes of Damien Chouly, Olivier Olibeau, Nicolas Laharrague, Grégory Le Corvec, Jean-Philippe Grandclaude and Jerome Porical should perhaps be playing for Agen, Brive or Bordeaux-Begles or better yet Newcastle or Aironi. I seriously couldn´t see Porical starting at fullback for Aironi so thinking that he is Perpignan´s fullback is really, really strange. They all played for France because Perpignan were winning games. Upon national selection they were all proven to be below par and none of them lasted long in les Bleus.
Marius Tincu is the only good backup player in the roster.
