Opinions on The Allblacks and Austrailia not being licensed in the game ?

WHAT?!!! HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU NOT HAVE THE ALL BLACKS AND WALLABIES LICENCES?!!! These are, lets face it, the top contenders for the World Cup, and the video game of the world cup does not include their licenses? I would accept if this was just a rugby game not affiliated with the world cup but this is seriously demented. Dosen't the RWC license include all the teams in it? I thought automatically that all the particpating nations would have correct licenses, considering that this game does not include any club teams.

I refuse to believe that they wont license the ABs and the Wallabies, it JUST CAN'T HAPPEN!!! I also expect that the other top teams, let's say Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy and Argentina will be licensed (especially Wales, plz plz include the Wales license) and if not I will just buy RC.

But of course the developers still have to comment, it may not be true after all. I mean seriously, no NZ or Australia (or the other teams listed above), what a joke.

btw I do realise that Australia and NZ will be included, I just mean that if they're not licensed it will be ridiculous.

Just so no-one corrects me...

Also, the World Cup is hosted by New Zealand........................

so, dosen't that definitely confirm they're in the game? I mean, who wouldn't license the team that is hosting the event on which their game is based on?

seriously

They cant get the license because it has been given as an exclusive to Sidhe/HES. As baffling as it sounds, its true.

I don't really see it being an issue if the editor is good enough most of the licensing issues can be sorted out by the fans. it is a bit strange with both games not having all of the licenses but they are in competition and both are trying to have the best game possible which means getting exclusive licenses wherever possible. also licenses aren't everything they do help but ultimately I would hope both games get judged on how well they play.

Agreed esoj, I'm just saying that if it's to the extent that editing has no significant effect, what's the point of editing. I'll accept an extremely tactfully worded PM from anyone at HB that would stay with me. I think it would show my confidence in the situation if after that I stopped addressing the issue. I'm just thinking about people who might have to forceably deal with a blonde SBW or a completely foreign looking Piri Weepu. This is of crucial importance to the credibility of said player editor and I'm not letting this go.

Editors can get remotely close to the original players, or workarounds can be present. If this hasn't happened, it will be a very sad situation. There are some very trustable fans who'd do anything for a good fair and legal workaround who would've been at this confidentially for some time to help if they'd been consulted.

Doesn't matter as long as France and England are there.

It's hardly an Official World Cup Game if the top two teams aren't included and no licensed stadia

what is this name editor everyone is talking about......can you hep me HB please ?

Also. Will the allblacks do the haka and what will they be caleed in the game if they are not licensed ? :)

I really think that this is not that big of a deal, there will be Oz and NZ in the game. I also think that the teams will have similar resemblance to the actual players. I mean the AB do not own their players they just have contracts saying that they are employees, so I don't know what gives them the right to sell off Dan Carter's face.

But besides that, don't really care what they look like. I just want the ratings to be proper. I don't want Ban Harter to be a Fly Half with a rating of 75%. Because that would just suck, I want the ratings to be correct...... I also think they will be because I read HB_Glen say that it could be an "achievement" to beat New Zealand with Namibia.... so I think I will be satisfied.

I am also buying both.

ye im buying both but ill get this one 1st because im a big fan of hb studios rugby ***les

Disappointing but at the end of the day with two products on the market I'm not complaining. :)

Doesn't matter as long as France and England are there.

Official basketball world champs game without USA and Spain? A white DaBraun Jones for 3!
Soccer World Cup without England and Spain? James Spooney scores with a full head of hair!
Formula One without Ferrari and Red Bull? A great drive from Hernando Alfonso, in the famous burgundy of Fireani.

C'mon now... don't go imagining a football (see football, not soccer) World Cup game without England or Spain as it wouldn't happen, the same way there is not going to be a rugby World Cup game without New Zealand or Australia.

<sarcasm on="">///sarcasm on///
<sarcasm on=""> this game better have the full licence of the wolfhounds/shamrocks, dragons and thistles teams or I am going to have a brain fart and troll here forever more <sarcasm off="">

So the All Blacks and Wallabies monikers cannot be used, that is established fact, now lets move on. I do share some of the (as yet unconfirmed) grievances if the player models do not look similar (or have the ability to be made look similar) to their supposed real-life couterparts from a gameplay camera. I am definately not fussed however on how exactly like Dan Carter or insert-name-here they look in celebration videos etc (as after a few matches these will by and large be skipped), as long as they resemble a real player appearance from my main gameplay camera angle (sidecam ftw!) then that should be enough. That's the view I will have of the teams for 95% (if not more) of the time so that's what really matters here.

So the nicknames/associated monikers/copyrighted-tradenames of the 2 teams (and surely in their very essence they are just a money making exercise anyway?) will not feature in the RWC2011 game, such is life, but the countries and a team of 15 players to represent them will.

Don't like my opinion? See you Aug 26th on xbox live, bring whoever... I'll bring the wolfhounds</sarcasm></sarcasm></sarcasm></sarcasm>

It doesn't really matter, they will be there but the names will just be slightly different. I doubt just because they are not there, HB are just going to add them as two rubbish teams. The players and stats will still be the same as if they were licensed so we will know who we are competing against

I very obviously made my concerns about editability earlier in the thread and to be fair it's something that worries me in relation to the 3 known teams that at this time we know there'll be no official licences for. New Zealand, Australia and USA.

My gut feeling is that HB have created an incredible game here. Sure Sidhe have shown some impressive Wallpaper graphics and I sincerely hope the game plays as well as it looks (early reports pin this as their best sports ***le to date). Still, HB sound like they've been keeping quiet and working their butts off to build on an already impressive game.

Rugby '06 and Rugby '08 were miles better than WCR and Rugby Challenge '06 (different developer) for good reason. The basic gameplay was much better than another developer had conceived of at that time. Nothing at this point has served to convince me that anything Sidhe have is beating HB's standards, all I've seen is incredibly good graphics and editing. Where are the gameplay view shots that are harder to present so well? I mean no slight towards them by saying so either. Presentation has never been Sidhe's weakest point.

Now, back to how this makes me feel about unlicensed teams in RWC2011. If this game improves as well as it's starting to show, it WILL be the game I play all my international games on with friends etc. I want to play international tourneys with my friends and I want Australia and New Zealand to be editable within reason to be close to the real thing. It'll have a negative impact on the product if these things aren't editable.

I mean we appear at this stage to have a Number 4 with grey hair, a blonde Richie McCaw, some nameless completely bald Maori or Pacfic Island player standing in the backline. These things are all acceptable if editable. It appears this isn't the case from initial reports and that's gutting for me. I've only heard names and attributes.

I've now been reduced to hoping that this game has EXTENSIVE squads to pick from. Maybe 45-60 odd players, where some of the generic selectables are close enough in appearance to what I'm looking for.

All HB would have to say to allay my fears are something comforting like "the squads are XX number of players to choose from" and "there are a huge variety of generic players to choose from in these extended squads. I'm sure you should be able to create a very wide variety of custom players by this method". Something like that treads on ZERO toes legally.

I'm not wanting to be a nag, but this game means a fair bit to me and I'm just naturally nervous about this aspect as anyone would be for their own countries if in the same boat. I have a lot of repsect for the work of HB Studios and look forward to more announcements in relation to this and other features in the game as soon as practical. :D
