Number 6 in the sticks: Munster v Leinster, Saturday April 2

Totally **** match! Both sides were rubbish! Don't convince yourselves otherwise. Munster were no better than Leinster at all. One of the worst refereeing performances I've seen. Seemed to be just making calls at random. Sending off Murphy for that offence was a joke but sending off O'Driscoll for that non-offence at the half way line was a complete sham. And how did he not send off Buckle in the 1st half? He was so easily influenced by the crowd. ****** moron!

I am basking in the warmth of your graciousness in defeat.

What was Murphys card for?
I missed that bit (was getting a drink or something) and can't speak Irish so didn't understand the commentators talking about it afterwards :p
I presumed it was throwing the ball into touch or killing the ball or something considering Leinster were attacking close-ish to the try line

I thought F.Jones looked great, and it certainly bodes well for Ireland to have young(ish) fullback coming through

Not rolling away after tackle but was more the ref delivering on previous warnings

Paul O'Connell, who was assisted off in the 46th minute with an ankle injury, had an x-ray last night that revealed he suffered no fracture.
The Munster skipper will travel to Dublin tomorrow to have further medical examination carried out to establish the full extent of the injury.
At this stage it is not known how long he will be out of action for.

Good news but I expect he will be out for the Brive game at least. Nagle should get the nod if so as it would be pointless to play MOD.

If a player is trapped he is trapped and there is nothing he can do about it having been pinged twice for it yesterday both times desperately floundering like a salmon to break out of the ruck. both times penalized.

then after seeing last night where two players were carded for the same offence it makes me wonder are refs being too harsh regarding the rolling away I mean its not exactly hard for an opposing player to trap someone there with the aim of earning a penalty :/

He was very very harsh on it last night, several penalties for both sides he could have let go as players were doing their best to get away

Paulie has broken ankle lads just spoken to him. Has to wait for further tests but bone is broke

Can't say yet I don't have 100% of facts.
All depends on which bone and if ligaments are damaged.
I'd expect he'd make World Cup and be available.
Let's not forget a fracture is worst than a break.

Sad news for POC - missing his last WC etc.
Bet Kidney feels a right dick for not giving Tuohy or Toner a good run out in the 6N now...

Or Cullen for that matter...

Who the hell was lifting POC? Totally careless way to handle a lineout jumper! You have to bring him down. Not just throw him up and let go. I would bet anything it was Buckle!

He was just as harsh on Munster. We couldn't play at all in the first half when he decided he was going to ping us at every second ruck for exactly the same thing as he did Leinster for in the first half.

And maybe BOD was trapped but it would have helped his case if his hands weren't digging away at the same time.

Ref was equally rubbish for everyone Munster in the first half, Leinster in the second.

Really inhibited any chance of back-play more than any amount of not-rolling away every would.

I hope Leinster can retain Necewa in the long run. Seriously handy player. If he's not in the Fiji world cup squad it shall be a joke...

Yeah I sorta highlighted that by saying Murphy's binning was rubbish... Possibly didn't highlight it enough though... the ref was almost equally as bad to both teams. Was extremely frustrating to watch. Just annoying when free flowing rugby suits Leinster and we didn't get that.

Ah Nacewa's ridiculous. He could almost push for a place on the AB's bench if he wasn't already capped for Fiji

Ditto that...I've had lads throw me up and not even hold in the air sometimes causing me to land head/shoulder first lifters can be awfully stupid ,Paulie was horribly unlucky as he seemed to land easily enough , but i guess with 17+ stone coming down on it a slight tweak could cause huge damage.

Bone broken isn't the worst case and ligament is damaged but still further tests needed.

Bone broken is not problem and will only affect 3 weeks. It's the tendons and ligaments that will decide full length of injury but estimate just given is he will be out for 8 weeks

I know that's him gone for the rest of the season but when you saw the pain he was in I thought it was going to be worse.

I presume someone will find some games for him to play somewhere for him when he comes back...

I wouldn't worry about games. He has all the warm up games and will have option of Munster and AIL games. The Munster senior cup etc

On Heaslip I think at times yesterday he showed glimses of class. Good support and great offloading but sometimes he needs to make his game simpler and get in their and do some dirty work. I think he had an off day yesterday but he I think alot of Ireland's players had a tough game yesterday. I thought Murray was really good he must be developed quickly as he is what Ireland really needs. Yesterday Leinster seemed to sit back abit but and their midfield was dreadful probably BOD's worst match of the season. I thought the Leinster back 3 were good. Horgan made ground and ran some good lines. Nacewa created alot and Fitz was very good in defence.
