NH Rugby Transfers

Rumour has it Paul Shields is headed back to Ulster on loan as cover for Rory Best.

Edit: Ignore that, apparently he's gone into coaching.

Riki Flutey's rugby career will take another twist as he takes up a two-year contract with Munster.

Flutey, the New Zealand-born Hurricanes and Wellington player who made his name in England with London Irish before winning selection for England and the British and Irish Lions, has been playing for Brive in the French Top 14 competition .

However, he has been curtailed in his appearances for Brive due to a shoulder injury and international play. He has made only four appearances.

It is understood Flutey was upset that England first five-eighths Andy Goode left to join the Sharks in the Super 14 competition.

The Brive club has a reduced budget next season, 20 percent down on this year, and its coach Ugo Mola is looking to place more Frenchmen in his side.

Meanwhile, Toulon continues to build its array of foreign players with Welsh wing Shane Williams its latest target.

Williams told Wales Online that he was still to make up his mind about a possible switch.

"I've really not had time to think about it. I have had people to talk to me about it and almost answer the question for me, but not like I said, I'm happy at the moment with the Ospreys. I just want to do well in the Six Nations," he said.[/b]

This could be an excellent signing for us as Flutey is in his prime and will fit squad excellently :bravo:

Not sure if Shane will be same though as the move could be bit much. Wonder would it mean Gatland ending his International time

Can't imagine Shane actually leaving Osprey, he'll probably say "he's considering all offers" at some point, to squeeze a few extra quid out of them :p.

Good signing for Munster that, what with JdV off home. Hopefully Flutey won't be injured too much, didn't realise he'd only played four times for Brive.

So am I right in thinking Flutey will be the first England International(sort of) to play for an Irish side, and in the Magners for that matter?

Well yes and no. He'll be the first player to still be in the England team while playing for an Irish side as far as I know but Robbie Morris and Will Green have donned England jerseys in their time.

Sure Flutey a kiwi :p
But well he'll be 1st English International for Munster that I can think of.

Andy Long spent some time with Munster a few years ago. He won a couple of England caps.

Oh yes I forgot about him ... But he was only there to cover hooking position but didn' know he was capped.
He wasn'tInternational class though so I guessing his caps came when injury was at its peak yeah!

Aironi look to have an excellent bunch of second rows next season.

The tug of love for Riki Flutey's services between Brive, Wasps and Munster looks to be coming out in Munster's favour according to today's reports in the Express. That guy has a hell of an agent!

Snoop can say I was talking to someone in Munster camp and well situation is,
Munster remain interested and have a lucrative offer on table but Wasps seem to be the preferred destination at moment,
But to make things that bit more interesting Wasps don't seem want to offer as much $$$

So everyone seems in limbo :D

Carl Hayman has confirmed he is off to Toloun next season...

Really disappointed considering he's all ready very rich from his time in England. I know he's got to earn a living but if he got off contract with the Canes after 2 more years, he'd still only be 33 and he could have played another 2 years afterwards in French rugby. I was really hoping for his return.

Probably thought he didn't have a chance as it rare seen New Zealand pick players at 33.

As for Toulon :( Will they have any French players left and will they send us back our prop (Timmy Ryan)
