New Pope...

My confirmation name is Francis. Me and the Pope when we get a chance to pick a new name we do it right.

Not an option but in an ideal world I think the Catholic church should have fast-tracked Desmond Tutu up the ranks all the way to pope. Now that guy has class, compassion like no other and dignity and it shows and I believe someone like him would be a breath of fresh air to a church which I for one think desperately needs some fresh air blowing through the halls.

That would have put the old jibe "Is the pope a Catholic?" in a new light!!

Tutu was Cof E

Bit late but you know for next time what the smoke means

We will just have to win another Grand Slam and off another pope.
Just keep that pic handy.

Except, you know.....wrong religion.

It's the same religion, just a different denomination. Protestants(all 33,000 types!!!), Catholics, Eastern Orthodox and the Non Trinitarian groups(Jehovah's witnesses, Mormons etc.) are all Christians....Christianity is the religion, the four main groupings and further subdivions are denominations.

Edit: As an aside Anglican(Church of England) of which Tutu is a member of is probably the most "Catholic" of all the Protestant groups. Many things are shared within the two more so than in other Protestant movements.

Turkson being the favorite early on was just nonsense, people making "fun" bets. Same thing with Peter being chosen as papal name. It has zero chance of happening, I think. Cardinals are way too racist for that, and Italians are way too many. I hope I'm wrong, as an African or Latin American Pope would be great, but I don't see it happening.
I think it'll be Scola, but you can never be sure. Besides, for this conclave we are back to the 2/3 rule (Benedict was chosen through simple majority), so if there is strong disagreement between two sides, they may choose something "in between" (whatever that means in this case).
I find this whole Pope thing deliciously anachronistic, sort of like William and Kate's wedding. Stuff that shouldn't be happening in the 21st century, so I like them (while being against them at the same time).
Agreed.
I have a 1/4 final vs a Jesuit school tomorrow so that's us f**cked.
Don't even bother turning up.

First a German, now someone from Argentina... It's like our Royal family.

An Argentine Queen of the Netherlands, and now an argentine Pope, what's next... an argentine in the White House?

How about an Argentine in the Falklands?

Anyway, at least he's from a rugby-playing country and must have boosted Argentina's chances of winning the 2015 RWC!
