New international competition

How about a bi annual competition between North and South hemisphere selects (a bit like the Ryder Cup in golf) with alternating venues and seasons. I think it might create a lot of interest and be a money spinner if it was run and marketed properly. I would be interested to know what people thought. Feel free to be honest or to ask for clarification.

Only just noticed this thread...................for gawds sake give it up.........there is far too much international rugby now without imposing stupid stuff like this................it is already done every 4 years and called the elongated RWC!!

If you cut that down to the top 10 nations (being the top 6 in the rankings and qualifiers) and hold it every five years it would save enormous amounts of time on the field for the top players!!

It seems Scots feel obliged to point out their Scottishness in their name.

oh like the English are so discreet with being English... (yes, not that many allusions to that here on this very specific website, but I mean generally in regular life/elsewhere online).
And dude, what's with you and Scots ?!?!??? I swear I'm sure you were owned as a slave as a child in some farm in the Highlands or smt, your absolute relentlessness with making fun of/making disagreeable remarks against the Scottish is just remarkable, not that I even follow you that closely ! Seriously, duuude...you're so specifically on the Scots' phalluses, where have you drawn that tender love of them from ?

That was hardly a disagreeable remark, it was just poking a bit of fun. I'm sure you didn't miss the subtle difference at all and just wished to be your flamboyant self. Also not sure where you get this impression that I'm somehow relentlessly attacking the Scots? I attack the team a fair amount and I think they deserve it and it's based on their performance. Only comments I think I make about the Scots is that I don't like how frequently they boo the English and not displaying the English flag when we played them at Murrayfield.

Also when it comes to make accusations of others for attacking another nationality too much, you aren't exactly a shining example yourself.

wow your getting wind up at us over a flag ? well look at this

A_pot_of_gold..._-_geograph.org.uk_-_718806.jpg

do you see that ? on the right ? is it another scottish flag no, there is a scottish flag and the english flag so what you on about ? and with the big flag's on the pitch dude we always have two scottish flags i dont recall seeing a different flag on the pitch bar the scottish one.

second point dude i know its no longer this on your side but in scotland, us vs the english are really big rivals. its a rivalry thing. if you come to scotland i for one wouldn't talk to you just because your english. soo if we boo you its just a rivalry thing we do this all the time to rivals its like celtic vs rangers or hearts vs hibs we'll boo each other off because they're rivals so i'd say get use to it. its what we've always its not because your english its because were rivals

Not very observant then Scotty:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbG9frDt2Q4 What flags are on the pitch?
Same here at 4:07 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQRmqM8hdRE
Now compare: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvTLSs4dBdk 2 huge Scottish flags but not an English one.

As for booing, "It's not English, it's because we're rivals" wears quite thin, it's more bad attitude and I'm suprised you think bringing football attitude is an excuse for it in rugby. Should faking injury and hastling the ref also be in? Beyond the flag thing, which I think was little more than a bit of petty psychological stuff and the booing, I can't think of any comments I've made about Scotland that haven't been related to their performance, which I'm sure not many can defend. I am hardly wound up, I just felt it was petty.

ok then you got me. but to discriminate us over a flag on a pitch is nonsense.

What discrimination? I pointed out a valid petty thing that happened in the game against England (remember your manager was mouthing us off in the press beforehand too?) and excessive booing, something that also actually happened. The rest of my comments have been about your team and their poor performance. That's hardly discriminating because they ARE performing badly. I spend more time getting angry at England making stupid mistakes than I do making comments about Scotland.

Anyway this has gone out of hand, if you look at my original comment, it was little more than a light hearted joke that got turned into a "look how much rage hates Scotland" thing.

Scotty I think it's a really good idea. Imagine a collective Rugby Chamionship side Vs essentially a Six Nations (obviously with others). But, I think the congestion with fixtures already wouldnt really allow for it. Food for thought though.....

umm ..... your welcome ?

How about the home nations under the guise of the 'B' teams and selecting players non - capped have annual tournament inviting all the northern hem nations. A TV deal would probably happen and Europe would get healthier doses of international rugby with the fan base. The 'bigger 'crowds will give the Hollywood feel to the lower tier teams.

It would be great development and exposure and probably more beneficial than some of the IRB tourneys?

Could be done at the end of the season when the full teams go on tour ?

I was hoping this thread would get more comments.

How about having weight limit for the 15 on the field at any time ?

How about expanding the world cup by auto qualifying invitational teams such as the Barbarians and Maori?

How about some matches like 15 v 15 number 9's or Props ?

Or how about something that will never happen.. relegation from the 6 nations?
