lol, I think you just ran out of older players there and were forced to include some younger ones! :) - or are there any u-30 players there? You have about 15 under-30 players to chose from from the squad - many of them among the best in Europe... plus some pretty good ones that were left out of the squad.
You're all just taking the ****. I'm moving! :)

@ Darwin_23:Half-back combination looks pretty weak? No one else coming up in NZ?

Colin Slade's a good player but I think Bleyendaal is Carters successor. The man is a machine!

Mathewson is a very good halfback - he should be in the RWC squad ahead of Ellis in my opinion (though he doesn't have the kicking game the AB's selectors want in their halfbacks). Behind him there isn't too much in the 'under 25 bracket' - Aaron Smith and Tawera Kerr-Barlow are both promising young players but are probably still a year or so away from reaching their potential (TJ Perenara is another, but he is even younger). Colin Slade is class a 10, as is Aaron Cruden. There are a pile of young talented 10's that have the potential to make the AB's in the next few years e.g. Beauden Barrett, Gareth Anscombe, Tyler Blyeendaal and Lima Sopoaga.

Reddan has turned 30 I think. EDIT: Continue offtopicness. It's all fun

Saw him playing for the Bleus a couple of times this season wasen't all to impressed? Thought he got outplayed by Ellis when they met. But Ellis was on the winning side.

Weak was propably harsh though, thanks for the info, I'll look out for those names.

*EDIT*

Not offtopic just discussing the teams put on here? Thats what it should be no?

Yeah, I do remember Mathewson getting outplayed by Ellis when they met. If I remember correctly, it was wet match, and Mathewson's lack of a kicking game was exposed. It was one of the few times this season that Mathewson was outplayed though. Mathewson is probably the most dangerous halfback in NZ with the ball in hand as he has fantastic acceleration, and he clears the ball really well. His only weakness is that his kicking game is nowhere near the level of the other NZ halfback contenders (Cowan, Weepu, Ellis, Leonard). With Nonu at 12 (who is not really a playmaker) the AB's use their halfback as a second playmaker, hence kicking skills are vital, and because of this Ellis got picked over Mathewson.

@calculon serves me right for using wikipedia. :D
ahh, see it now - listed as 28 on personal wiki, and 30 on national team wiki. I think he was born in 1980 - so 30, who knows.
I don't question my Wikipedia overmaster. I bow and ask for more wikimation.

If Sopoaga ever plays for the AB's I'll eat my hat. Perenara is pretty bad at this (very early) stage of his career too. They've both been awful for Wellington this ITM cup.

Cruden is miles ahead of Blyendaal/Barrett/Anscombe too, they're all a couple of years away from being as good. I think James Marshall gets unfairly left out of these 'young players with potential' discussions as far as kiwi players go. He has had a much better season than the likes of sopoaga and anscombe.
