Munster v Australia

Deservedly so, he's been quality
Munster have been smothering Australia completely,
Don't think i've seen Australia go forward this second half, they either pick and drive and gain no ground, or pass the ball and Munsters defence are on them so quick they go backwards

What were australia doing especially in the second half. I don't think the ball entered the Munster 22 in the whole second half. Barnes was awful, he knocked it on all the time, He kicked like that was his first time playing rugby and his leadership was poor. Munsters pack sent Australia backwards every tim they had the ball. Munster kept the ball well considering the weather an played in all the right places. The scrum improved and got the upper hand in the second half. The Lineout was great Varley had a great game. Billy Holland put in a great effort Nagle has followed his great performance against Ulster with a top class performance against the wallabies. He comanded the lineout. made ground every time he carried and his work rate was great. He has a real future. The back row was great. O'mahony really stepped up and shoed his physical side. Ronan cleared everything up well and was great in defence. Coughlan lead brilliantly. Williams had a great game today, his pass was good consideing the weather, he made good decision most of the time and he kicked well most of the times. Warrick kicked brilliantly out of hand and at the posts. the backs really didn't get a chance to do much but I think Earls showed why he should be in the Ireland squad by making some great breaks and tacking well. Johne Murphy also had a good game, one of his kicks was outstanding. The backs always preasured the Australians but this game was a forward match. I think the turning point in the game was in the about the 35 minute where Munster pushed the Aussie scrum back from their try line and Ronan and williams (i think) wrapped up the number 8 drove him back and won a penalty.

Well done munster, few kiwi's in their lineup. hehe poor old deans must be getting a chin wobble on by now.

So Munster are to challenge England for the TRF International Shield now?

Oh dear ... should be an interesting read in the Aussie papers then

Well what a night and what a game soaked but it was worth it.
Just reading comments and well I see it clear Hook is a tool and again it showed tonight from what I've read.

Starting up front Borlaise was excellent I thought for a fella making his debut.
Varley was excellent tonight and well again I find it hard to believe he is behind Best.
Ian Nagle was excellent and this mixed with Ryan's ban could shoot him into Heineken Cup contention. He was immense in the lineout and superb around open play.
Coughlan lead by example and well was excellent in leading Ronan and O'Mahony who as a unit performed.
Duncan Williams had a few nervy moments but played well and kept the defense honest.
Warwick did a fine job and was excellent with boot out of hand and did a fine job kicking at goal given the conditions.
Tuitupou just doesn't miss a tackle and well is like Mafi but seems to have a bigger skill-set.
Earls well again showed in glimpses that he should've been preparing for a start saturday but doesn't get the respect off Irish set-up

On the team as a whole well they had this 'in your face attitude' and for a relatively inexperienced team they really stood up to Austrailia and in my opinion showed the Irish team what they are lacking - Passion, Pride and the look of a team willing to put their bodies on the line for eachother no matter what.
Johne Murphy injured leg in first 5 mins but didn't come off until last few mins because he didn't want to let down his team or miss out. In a cold and miserable night players were frozen and could have folded but didn't. Leinster seem to have it, Munster have it but Ireland seem to be loosing it - That will to play for the team.

Yes, well done Munster ... I hope I get to see the game at some stage - it sounds like Munster were very motivated, and I guess if you have so many fringe Ireland players wanting to press their claim for an Irish jersey, a few Kiwi's and Pacific Islanders (who don't need much motivation when it comes to playing Aussie teams), and an Aussie kicker who would be equally as motivated, you end up with a pretty determined team.

... I would be interested to see how Peter Borlase went, as I thought the Canterbury tight five went not so well at Scrum time, sometimes in the ITM cup this year
(not saying he was the reason)

... I see Mr Hook has already made dispatches on the sports radio in NZ, and in the papers in Oz ... one paper has quoted him as saying that it was the worst Australian team he's ever seen

Shaggy it will be on rte media player for next week or so but Borlase did very well for a fella who got off plane last thursday.

Everytime they spoke to Hook he was slagging someone/something off "If an Irish team wants to spend a LOT OF MONEY on a prop, AT LEAST GET ONE THAT CAN SCRUMMAGE" - "THIS IS A TERRIBLE AUSTRALIAN TEAM" "ROBBIE DEANS IS JUST SHOWING HOW HE HAS NO VISION" etc.etc.

great day for Munster and also for New Zealand lol

No prob and when you watch it maybe even New Zealand people will see it a disgrace Keith Earls isn't set to start for Ireland or maybe Kidney will have a nice sleep on it and realize reality :D

With Toner and Nagle the future looks bright for second rows in Ireland,

Can't believe Varley isn't with Ireland this weekend, was a close 2nd for MOTM for me. Also Earls did well tonight (especially considering the dire weather) and showed that the Ireland selectors were wrong about him too

Olyy 100% agree. Varley should be on bench at least. He is Irelands best lineout thrower, equals Cronin in the loose and is on form.
Rory Best is off form and well Ireland selectors have to start picking on form if we are to be sucessful.

Nagle will be a super lock in 2/3 years, O'Mahony I thought was super tonight also and did get his hands on alot of dirty ball

 We're in no hurry to see your best players ... some time after the RWC would be nice if you can arrange it :D

Way the Irish management are going it'll probably be after World Cup and too late.
But again what a dogged performance by Munster and well great way to turn up the heat on Ireland.
