I think it's now too easy to kick a modern rugby ball 60 -70 yards down the pitch.
One team can take 20 phases to move up the pitch only to lose possession and some cheeky sod kicks it back 60 yards down the pitch.
This didn't happen in the old days (that would break your ankle) and I believe it spoils the game now.
How about reducing the pressure in the ball slightly so less energy propels the ball. I don't mean using a ball that resembles a left-over Christmas pudding.
This would encourage more tries to be scored under the posts where kicks would be shorter, less reliance on a kicker who can land a penalty from the half-way line and
would not affect the passing game.
