Millennium Magic 2008

Just read this on the Superleague website...

This year’s event is likely to be even bigger and better with the whole Rugby League community able to attend as teams in the The Co-operative National Leagues will play on either the Friday before or Monday after the event.

Sounds like it could be a very good weekend, I guess they have to give some thing to the smaller teams they are gonna chuck to oneside...

That should be well worth watching. We could well end up overdosing on rugby league that weekend!

Its like 6 games isn't enough, so lets go for 8 this time...

I am already getting quite excited by going to this...

Just waiting on Wigan RLFC now, then I say we book it. Nobody else is expressing an interest so...

this would be a wonderful weekend imo... i wish the NRL did something like this downunder.

any of you blokes coming down for the world cup??

I'll give you my e-mail address in case you do.

Would be well worth meeting up, quickly.

Lads you missed a pretty good day of rugby sunday!

Two great games and a masterclass on how to demolish a side!

Castleford apologise to their fans:

MILLENNIUM MAGIC STATEMENT 6 May 2008

The club would like to make an unreserved apology to all Tigers fans for the inadequacy of the performance last Saturday in the Millennium Magic and in particular to those fans who traveled to Cardiff.

CEO Richard Wright said: “I think everyone knew that Saturday’s game was always about who wanted it most and so it proved. There were no surprises from the opposition, we were at strength, and there can be no excuses. The players are well paid and well looked after. With that comes a responsibility to give their all every week and to have nothing left in the tank at the end of every game.
“We lost our captains early in the game but it was up to somebody else to step up to the mark. It only takes a big hit or a strong run to inspire others, but no one took it upon themselves to give us that.
“As are a result we are planning to offer those fans who bought their tickets from the club a reduction in the in the price of Tigers home tickets/merchandise to the value of 50% of their Millennium ticket price.
“We hope that in some small way this move offers a little compensation to those who traveled down to Wales and deserved better than what was on offer from their team.â€
Precise details of how we will organize this will be communicated tomorrow.

Wonder if Wigan will follow suit?

Great weekend again, though needs the added spice of the TRF guys on tour. Was great to meet Cymro, who is a top bloke, and great to take in the rugby. The second day was better than the first (they need to split the Hull KR game away from Saints vs. Wigan, it is possibly worthy of a main event) and the games were of a higher standard.

We demolished Wigan big style and I loved every second of it.

Kept telling you that the Saints would put a shift in!!!

hopefully the orgainisers will keep this event in Cardiff!

I will be surprised if they move it away from Cardiff. Murrayfield is nothing like as popular as the Millennium Stadium, and is in fact one of my most disliked stadiums.

Worst i have EVER seen us play period.

On the subject of moving it away from Cardiff i don't think that a half full MS is really what rugby league needs. How many does Murrayfield hold ? because looking at some of the crowds on those weekends they were nothing short of shocking.

The reason why it was so shocking was the fact that the MS did not advertise it till so late, and I have to admit the St Helens vs Wigan game was fairly packed!

It seems that Edinburgh is in with a real shout of hosting the next 'Magic Weekend'!!!
