Mike Ford

“no disrespect to anybody, we just haven’t got the world-class players in our team.†I'd fire him for saying that alone.

Its one thing saying it after a tournament, its another saying it to the press in the middle of a world cup.

The guy wasn't really well liked at Saracens either. Came in promising the world, mis-managed half of the players and then made morale fall through the floor when things didn't go his way.

He looks even more stupid since he was booted since Alan Gaffney arrived, taken the muck that Ford left behind and turned it to solid gold!

Confidence is probably pretty low. Whether it is or not, what would the players think when one of the coaches comes out with this. It's hardlly going to improve things. Besides he's wrong. England have 1 world class player. unfortunately he showed his class whilst the team was getting beat badly and pulled his hamstring.

Lol, England def have more than 1 world class player!!

Wilkinson is the obvious one,

Robinson is another (past his best but still world class I would say)

Well..1.5 then:D

The thing that irks me, and please note, I`m a South African, true blue and all that, is how this England team are now suddenly supposedly made up out of such poor players. FFS, Ashton`s had less than 12 months to sort through a thorough mess made by his predecessor. Then he had to go and impose his own style, personality and preferred style of play on the players. With so little time at his disposal, well it was always going to be a tough call to get them to perform optimally.

Anyone who thinks that the likes of Wilkinson, Easter, Rees, Robinson and Sheridan are not class players, must surely be smoking something. It`s almost like saying that the current Ireland side are playing with average players like Leamy, O`Driscoll, D`Arcy and O`Connell- all world-class in their own right, but just not performing in the team environment right now.

And a key ingredient in performing well as a team unit is just that- unity! If you have a bloke dragging down morale with statements like that, all I can say is: idiot.
