In what other sporting codes do they use this microphone technique, only one I can quickly think of is tennis...?
Don't feel it would work that good in rugby, it will only waste time, refs must rather learn to make the right calls and be consequent with their decisions then to try and implement a new technique that will only be a waste of time and money.

http://www.super14.com/news/viewarticle.asp?id=20439Officials from SANZAR are considering a radical new plan to help crowds understand some of the confusing decisions made by referees.
Australian Rugby Union deputy chief executive Matt Carroll said officials were thinking about giving Super 14 referees microphones so they could explain their decisions to the crowd which happens in other sporting codes.
One of the most common complaints about rugby is the confusion around the awarding of some penalties, particularly involving technical issues at the breakdown and set-pieces.
Carroll said that a proposal to trial the system had been forwarded to the South African, New Zealand and Australian Rugby (SANZAR) board for possible consideration but no decision had been made.
"It's something that you would trial, and see what the fans think," Carroll told the Sydney Morning Herald.
"If the fans hate it, there's no point doing it. If they are attracted to it, then it's something we might do."[/b]
