This weekend looks like being the long awaited return of Juan Martín Hernández after a 10 month injury lay-off sustained while playing for the Sharks. He is set to play flyhalf for Racing Metro Paris vs Toulon in Toulon on Friday. France A flyhalf, Wisniewski looks set to lose his spot. The timeing seems perfect after Metro Racing were overwhelmed by Montpellier last weekend.

Meanwhile Stade Français Paris have named their team with Martín Rodriguez Gurruchaga selected to play 10 vs Toulouse this weekend. He is, of course, a fullback but slotted in well at 12 for Argentina in November 2009 when he debuted. Regular SF flyhalf, Lionel Beauxis for me has not been playing well yet this season. After two matches nothing can really be said but the young France Junior World Champion flyhalf that I remember has been all downhill since 2007. He is not in the French team anymore - being dropped for Trinh-Duc, Michalak and even David useless Skrela. I thought he and Wisniewski were both average at best in the Churchill Cup. Canada played very well which was great viewing.

I wonder what Marc Lievremont thinks about this?

Marc Lievremont doesn't care as FTD is playing great and the back-up is probably Traille. That being said I think Beauxis will have a good season if he can remain injury-free...

Ok, I'll admit it. Sean White saying ruthless, I couldn't help but giggle.

Nothing notable from Ruan on this match, entering around the 65th and missing to relatively easy penalties.

To be noticed a great performance from Racing Metro, who beated RCT on their field by 5 points and 3 tries to 1. They were leading 21-36 at the 71th.
Viesnievski present but no more, Vulivuli and Chabal were hammers and Fall amazingly picked up an opposite up an under and splitted all the defense before giving a try ball to Masi.

Toulon's first challenge was to make Mayol stadium an unviolated fortress this year, but it's the first time that they concede 2 consecutive defeats at home since Mourad Boudjellal is president.

Trinh-Duc was superb vs Perpignan. He gets a lot of criticism from many people. My French friends all think he is no good. I rate him very highly. A very different style of flyhalf play but highly effective. Beauxis, on the other hand, should be nowhere near the Les Bleus 10 shirt. He will need to do very well as Michalak, Traille, Skrela and Boyet seem to me to be held in higher regard by Lievremont. Traille returning to 10 should be interesting. I remember him there vs New Zealand in November 2006 when all he did was kick. He was better vs Argentina in the following match, what a match that was. 27-26 to France from memory.

You must be happy with Montpellier? Two good wins, inc a first ever vs Perpignan in Perpignan. hard though to follow up with games vs Toulouse and Clermont tommorrow and on the weekend!

Mr. Cyclopede

Hernández did well. He had a good run forn a guy returning after 10 months and playing in a new team. I was quite satisfied.

Masi´s try was very good. I hope he can get plenty of match time for Racing at centre. It will be very beneficial to Italy.

Toulon must be wondering whats going wrong. How are they losing home matches? They will bounce back, no question.

About Martín Rodriguez Gurruchaga. Well, he had a very good match. Debuting vs Toulouse at scoring 16 points including a great try and another very good linebreak pasdt Thierry Dusautoir. He certainly has the potential to develop into a very potent player. Santiago Fernández (Montpellier) and Marcelo Bosch (Biarritz) will need to step up their performances or not make the Pumas 22 come November. Even Felipe Contepomi could be under pressure for his spot. Rodriguez is likely to be Argentina´s 15 but if he plays well at 12 for Stade Français then 12 may be where he is picked.

There was a third Puma Martín debuting on the weekend: Martín Bustos Moyano who played wing for Montpellier and was the goalkicker. He did quite well I thought. If he can get regular game time he could be in line for a first ever call up to the Pumas squad. Argentina´s other wingers in France are in the Pro d2.

I didnt realise Rodriguez had moved to Stade, wasnt he playing for an Argentinean club last season? Nice to see that Hernandez is back on the scene too!

Thats right, he was playing for Atletico del Rosario in Argentina. He was the top points scorer, playing fullback, in the URBA Top 14 which is the Buenos Aires club rugby division one competition. Rosario is the only non-Buenos Aires club in the comp. He mpressed the coaches to get a call up for ther November 2009 tour and was picked at 12 which surprized me. I am more surprized thoguh to see Stade Français playing him there rather than 15. Its early on in the season of course.

Meanwhile, Martín Bustos Moyano scored all 22 points for Montpellier in their win vs Toulouse on Wednesday. He is uncapped but should get a call up for November. Two good performances for Montpellier now. In contrast Pumas wingers, Agulla and Amorisino have been left out of the Leicester Tigers team to play this weekend.
