Discuss The SKA Band that is

MADNESS

Madness aside Ska is just a way to disguise lack of talent with cockernee umpa-umpa.

Madness performed to over 75,000 fans at the weekend concert festival Madstock at Finsbury Park London. The crowd danced so much that an earth tremor of over 4.5 on the Richter scale was reported during the song "One Step Beyond".

Name another Band in the world that has had that effect!!!

less than jake and reel big fish are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better. [/b]

Did they ever create an Earth Tremor that registered on the Richter Scale!!!!

I think Not!!!

SO HUSH!!!

And Bow down to Madness!!!

I sure do hope they're embarrassed of themselves these days :redcard: :boese0556kf:

I just saw that first video clip on TV on Rage on the ABC at no later(earlier??) than 12.15 in the morning!

The Beatles.
Not just jumping but girls fainting and screaming...those richters scales would be off the chart.

Baggy Trousers was the first song I ever taped off the radio. And didn't they have a song about condoms, when you weren't allowed to mention the word on air? Something about going down the chemists? Or was that the same song?

Bad manners were crap.

Were the Specials ska? Much better than Madness, but not so much fun.

Anyway, American economics blogs are linking to this version of Our House by Spitting Image: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...p;search=Search
Apparently the Iraq nonsense isn't bad enough to wipe out America's global standing - it takes the biggest housing crash in history to do that (coming soon to Europe, Australia, SA etc - it'll probably bypass NZ: nothing's happened there since 1987).

Brilliant band, saw them live once.... completely talentless, but so much fun!

House of fun is the song about buying condoms. The specials are/were ska, and much better than madness... not as funny though

Never liked them, never will.

That's just my opinion which I am entitled to. IMHO they were hardly punk. SLF were punk but then again so was Blondie.

Madness were more two tone or borderline ska.

Try The Beat or The Specials for a real ska band. Saying that The Specials had a huge influence from Joe Strummer(The Clash) which would place them in the ska/punk category.

Madness had an enormous following but it just wasn't my cup of tea. All my mates liked them but I just couldn't like them no matter how much I listened to their tracks.

I was exactly the same with U2. I hated them with a passion growing up. Two years ago I liked them so much I bought the entire back catalogue.

Now I sound like Victor Kyam
