and the recent mcalister debacle just shows he is an arrogant he is, not worth worrying about imho

F*** him. He has a chance to be apart of the All Blacks and turns it down for big bucks...

Wasn't he left out of the All Blacks, which is why he's trying to leave early?

In 2007 by the game against France he was probably the best 12 in the world. Going to Sale  certainly didnt help him. Injuries, loss in confidence and generally being left behind by the game and not trying to evolve his game he is now an average super rugby player. The game has moved on from second five eights, look around the world hardly anyone plays that style anymore. The new 5 metre scrum rule has led to more crash 12s.

Just thought I'd throw in the fact that it was Lukes fault New Zealand didnt win the last world cup.

Stupid obstruction and a booking, followed by his fear of dropping what was a fairly simple drop goal to win the game.

lolwut, get a clue paddy boy. By "stupid obstruction" you obviously mean Jauzion flopping like a soccer player - just one of many Paddy O'Briens love childs stellar referee decisions that day. He also molested the French in the first half, almost sent Collins over for a try before scoring one himself.

There's no rating below "Good" so I didn't vote.

McAlister is showing his true colours now... like a spoilt brat, he's thrown a hissy fit and wants to stomp out of the room because he can't get what he wants.

Its a pity the word "loyalty" doesn't feature in his vocabulary.

When he left for Europe after the 2007 RWC, GH said what a shame it was that he was going, because playing in Europe wouldn't allow him to develop to his full potential.....and he was right. We got him back last year and he was well off the pace; not the player he was when he left.

AFAIC if he wants to **** off to France before the end of his contract, then let him go (and he need not bother coming back).

We don't need people like him in NZ Rugby

Hehe, I keep forgetting you got jokes Cooky.

As a spectator at Eden Park watching the Blues, I have seen Luke get frusterated at his team a few times. Thats normal though for some players and in some of those cases Luke had every right to. However I do see hissy fits from Luke and Rugby can really draw the curtains on ones personality when things arent going well.

Hes served his country well as an All Black, he should be remembered for his efforts and not for missing training/leaving Harbour. Bottom line, Lukes gone.

Sam, I was being a bit obtuse. I was implying that McAlister wants to leave NZ without playing out his contract for North Harbour because he's ****** off at not being selected for the AB's. The fact is, he simply has not played well enough to warrant selection.

no way is he "the greatest player"

anyway he is back training with north harbour, though if i was them id not give him the ball :)

It does annoy me when people think that Northern Hemisphere club rugby isn't up to scratch and ruins players from the southern nations. Ever thought he just liked it too much up here and when he returned to New Zealand he realised what he was missing?

I know Cooky and I agree with you brother, you're absolutely right IMO. Im right with you, even if my other post might have come across otherwise, I know what you mean.

Well thats great news for Harbour. I hope his heart is a 100% in it when he turns out for them, if so he'll be lethal.

As a Northern Hemisphere man I'm obviously less hurt about his move up North... But I do agree it would have been better for his rugby in the long run to stay down South. Having said that he is still a solid, dependable option for both the 10 and 12 shirt and if it were down to me I would give him the nod over Slade or Cruden solely due to his test experience and solid build.

Also I would place him far, far above Donald as a 10... Solid kicker and a good runner, why wouldn't you want to take him to the RWC? Slade and Cruden both have plenty of time to develop as reliable 10 options in the All Black jersey, it'd be a bit more reassuring to have a player with plenty of experience to back up Carter.

You have always been a Luke Mcalister c**k rider Rips, now it looks like you're going down with the ship.

looks like Mcalister still wont play for North Harbour on tuesday either. But oh well its not that big a deal. Harbour should still dispose of Tasman anyway. Maybe it is further "punishment" for being a d*ck? :)

What a punishment, paying him to not play for a team he doesn't want to play for.

What's next, the North Harbour coach is going to punish is 16 year old son by giving him his credit card and a link to youporn?

Now that he's in Toulouse he's back in form and playing really well at outhalf. The toulouse confidence and style of play seems to be suiting him. He looks like he's having fun, which he didn't at the blues. I was annoyed last season as he got tried at outhalf against the lions and played brilliantly but was never put back there really and had a poor season at 12.
