Northampton's Scotland centre Joe Ansbro will join London Irish this summer after signing a three-year deal.

Irish head coach Toby Booth said: "His versatility on the field makes him a valuable to asset to have on board and further boosts our strength in depth.

"He's quick, powerful with a great future ahead and will fit in nicely."

Ansbro, who has made 15 appearances for Northampton this season, is due to win his third Scotland cap in Saturday's Six Nations opener against France.

Ansbro, who joined Northampton's academy in 2006 while also studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, made 65 appearances for the Saints, scoring 18 tries.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Northampton and would like to thank Jim Mallinder and all his coaching staff for what they have done for me," said Glasgow-born Ansbro.

"However it is time for a new challenge at London Irish and I am very much looking forward to it.

"Toby Booth has a terrific coaching record at Irish and is someone I look forward to working with."

Hmm dunno what to make of it personally is he that much of a loss for the Saints?

Let's put it this way: I'll be happier if he's away with Scotland whenever Saints play against Irish from now on.

He is going to be a super player but I wonder is the move to Exiles a good one for him.

The way Booth tends to look after his players, probably not.

im amazed saints have let this fella go,think it must be ansbro's decision first team rugby and all that or there's a big signing on the way.
