list of best players overlooked by Super Rugby sides for season 2011/12

Thought it might be interesting to hear opinions on top quality southern hemisphere based talent that has been overlooked this season. Any thoughts for a list of the best players playing in the Currie Cup/ITM Cup/Shute Shield that have so far failed to make it into one of the Super rugby franchises.

A great example for me is the Gordon Highlanders 10, David Harvey. Extremely accurate with the boot and very skilful and attack minded 10 who I believe would do very well at Super level. Must be countless others that have been overlooked for whatever reason. Any thoughts?

Evident in the fact henry Speight who would have been around a 5th choice Chiefs wing becoming a brumbies starter and 7's gold medal winner mickleson not even getting a contract.

I think in NZ because we lose so many players to overseas money it doesn't take long for young talent to pick up a contract if they have the goods. Plus with ITM cup and the under20 world cup talented young players do get good exposure.

Kade Poki, Jayden Hayward and Beauden Barret got wider training spots, but they have completely shown up the guys above them in the pecking order when they got their chances.

Ben Souness and Gillies Kaka should be starters at Super 14 level aswell.

Dean Budd and Nafi Tuitavake. Also Mike Harris (missed out on a New Zealand contract then got signed up by the Reds)

Beauden Barrett is pretty awesome, maybe a little young for full time super rugby. He's a pretty light dude too.

Has all back material written all over him though.

Yeah the one that got away and will come back to bite the Blues franchise big on the @ss

Mike Harris has shown great improvement since 2009 and righty-o for the lad to take the opportunity to show his class at the Reds. vs Rebels, it was awesome to see him come on after almost a month of warming his bum on the bench and make the most of his chances. Watch this space if Harris gets more game time this season

also Nafi a bit unlucky to miss out:mellow: ..strong & skilful player ....maybe another strong ITM will improve his chances....mmm that is if his team come good in the "Championship' Go Harbour

LOL you just have to love the Aussies for claiming citizenship for Mike after his first good showing on their soil

Harris was never going to make it ahead of Brett or Munro or when you have Anscombe in the wider training squad.

Kade Poki is in the Highlanders squad but I believe he is injured and is close to coming back.

Yeah but hes only in the squad because he was covering injuries. He should have been in the crusaders in the beginning let alone the highlanders main squad
