Lions - Six Nations 2025 Auditions

Really tough on VDM that he gets all the heat for the entire 'project players' episode. He really isn't the only one, and Scotland isn't the only nation guilty.
I know he isn't. Wouldn't have Lowe, Gibson Park, VDF, the Aussie wing who plays for Ireland playing either. Needs to be a different selection criteria for the lions but get I'm in a minority with that

I still think if you represent the country at u20s you should be locked for at least 2 years after.

I wonder if the Lions would have to give up their test status to invoke that given the clear eligibility rules in WR. It would technically be discrimination otherwise.

Not quite the same as nations not picking foreign based players because being resident in a country is a fair term of employment. Not being born there or not living there at certain ages isn't.

Clubs are free to be stricter (see Athletic Bilbao only selecting Basque players).

When you think about it it feels a bit silly that Lions games are tests - what makes them any different to Barbarians games?
It outdates Irish independence so I guess initially it had merit as it was one country. And then God forbid rugby breaks "tradition rooted in the ethos of the game" post 1922.
