Lions - Six Nations 2025 Auditions

I feel like I'm leaning toward a squad of

1. Genge, Schoeman, Smith
2. Kelleher, Sheehan, George
3. Furlong, Stuart, Fagerson
4. Itoje, Ryan
5. Bernie, Chessum/Martin (Depending what Farrell wants and who is fit but leaning Chessum and Bernie and Chessum both can play 6 to a high standard if needs)
6. Morgan, Fagerson
7. Curry, VDF
8. Doris,Conan, Earl
9. JGP, Williams, White
10. Russell, Smith, Smith
11. Lowe, Freeman
12. Aki, Tuipulotu, Jordan
13. Ringrose, Lawrence
14. Graham, DVDM,
15. Kinghorn, Keenan
No Huw Jones?

Is Owen playing well at Racing? He was absolute shite on the last Lions tour. People said at the time how Russell took Sexton's spot. It was Owen who shouldn't have gone four years ago. He wasn't even in form before the last squad was announced and was picked solely on reputation.

he's been injured and average when he has played.

Was voted worst signing of the season i believe

Just don't take both Smiths. We need to continue some sort of development in the summer and both would shoot us in the foot.

Why you do your boy Reffell like that? Props for Smith though but still. Cold.

I can't see how Kinghorn doesn't go. On form he 100% deserves to and while his availability at the start of the tour might be disruptive, I don't think it will keep him out.

In any case, who else is there?

With respect, the Welsh fullbacks simply aren't good enough to be serious contenders.

If Furbank had been fit and in form, he would have been in contention but as it is, I'm not sure he has enough time to press his claims. Steward slipping down the pecking order with England will have all but ruled him out. Marcus Smith is not a 15.

IMO that probably creates a shootout between Osborne and Jordan going as a utility options. Jordan is probably more deserving, but Osborne has the benefit of being very familiar with the rest of the likely back three.

I agree on Ben White.

Re. the wingers, it depends what Farrell wants. Lowe and Hansen are as good as on the plane, DvDM as well. Graham vs. Freeman is an interesting debate given they're very different players. It's a big if, but if IFW has a miraculous recovery, he might leapfrog both of them.

Hugo Keenan. Wild people keep forgetting about him.

No one's forgetting Keenan. Outside of Keenan and Kinghorn, who are the specialist 15 options who are good enough is the point that was being made.

I've seen a few people say Kinghorn is the only option and/or by far the best option with no one close. As if they have completed forgotten Keenan against. The person I quoted as one example!

I would have Keenan ahead of Kinghorn on the team sheet. Both should be in the squad.

I didn't forget about him though.

Exactly as @odw26 said I was referring to the question: 'if not Kinghorn then who?' when it was suggested he might not tour because of club commitments.

There wasn't and isn't a debate about Keenan going.

Given that this is a thread about lions selection based on 6N form, I don't see how Furlong's name can be put forward? He's world class, but hasn't strung any run of games together for a long time.

For me Fagerson, Stuart and Bealham go. Furlong would need to prove himself for Leinster in thr HC to have any chance.

And after saying all that, I'd have Lake in the squad despite only playing less than a half v Scotland. But he'll get a chance to prove himself v England at least.

Furlong has missed a lot of rugby but if he's fit, he goes. I think he's just a level above his competition.

Lake has a shot but Hooker is an interesting spot. I imagine Sheehan and Kelleher are inked in with the remaining spot up for grabs. Cherry has been decent for Scotland but realistically it's probably a toss up between George's reliability/prior experience as a tourist or Lake's dynamism.

I think Farrell will go with George, possibly even as a contender for midweek captain. I guess you could make a case for Lake doing the same though …
