'Lions are bigger than the All Blacks'

Really? I'd much rather win a World Cup than a Lion's tour...
You're forgetting we're from the British Isles...we don't win world cups..that's not how rugby works..

Waiting for an english poster to bring up 2003...got you heheh

Well if given the choice of going on a Lions tour or attending the World Cup, I'd opt for the former, but if given the choice over which one I'd rather win...

And with regards to the hype, well, maybe in the home nations it's given more hype, but elsewhere around the world I don't think it is - even in the nation the Lions are visiting. I like having the Lions come, it's awesome, but at the end of the day it's just another NH team to beat in June ;)

I'm seeing a lot of talk about tradition and making the Lions being the pinnacle of player's career. Couldn't the same be said for playing for the All Blacks? The Springboks? The Wallabies? Italy? Samoa? France?

I agree, the Lions are a big deal every four years a tour comes around... but, then, to use a previous example, are Bayern Munich suddenly bigger than Manchester United because they made the finals of the Champions League this year?

The All Blacks have a lasting image. The Lions mean a lot to the countries that represent them, just like any other team with their own heritage and birth right. Of course they're going to have a huge fan base, they represent four ****ing countries for chrissakes.

Exactly, it's not a debate of who is better, but representing 4 countries is obviously bigger than 1.

don't even know what to answer...I actually hate attention, in life or on forums. I don't like confrontation...I'm just speaking my mind here. I don't like the concept of the Lions too much unless they're playing another 'composite' team.

It's possibly because you're French and do not 'feel' the amount of pride and history behind the British and Irish Lions. Plus the Lions can be seen almost as a joining together of 4 different states of one Nation, due to cultural and and historical 'mixing', being either through conflict or union. Simple.

P.s With the rest of your post, you come across as just being petty and seem to just be undermining the Lions idea and tradition. Purposely? meh I don't know. As i said, if you don't experience it, you don't feel it.

Edit: Just read the other comments which put it much better than myself, apologies for bringing it back to topic. Ignore meh

yeah dude, just not interested at this point...Like, thanks for saying the exact thing everybody else has (which wasn't helpful to begin with) but I'm done here, you know ? ;)

For the countries that are able to represent the Lions, which is the point that I'm trying to make and I think we are agreeing on.

Just to clarify.

Its not a debate because the Lions are not better?

As for the 4 countries being "bigger" are you referring to total population? I hope you dont mean its a bigger deal, because its not. Anyone would rather play for a single country that beats a team made up from more than one country, that just makes your team look even better.

Maybe Sudan, Niger, Chad, Ethiopia, Somalia and Uganda could create a team called The Elephants that would then be "the biggest rugby team in the world!"

Im just joking, I love the Lions tour and will be watching every game. Also, they are playing Australia so Ill even be supporting them!
