Kicking Data Collection

The goal: Track every kick at goal taken during the season and every decision made from every penalty awarded in a "kickable" position and the resulting outcome to help determine how profitable the "kick to the corner" decision really is as compared to the alternatives.

That is more data than I can compile, so I am looking for 5 people to pledge to watch at least one Aviva Premiership game every week of the season and to put information into a spreadsheet. I expect all games to be posted online, as they were last year.

With the data compiled, we can create a new stat that takes into account the difficulty of the kick and is a better stat than simple percentage.

The worst thing that happens is you watch a bunch of rugby. The best thing that happens is that we can know for sure how different kickers compare and who is helping his team the most.

it's a good idea, and i'd love access to those stats for my own site, but i wont' have time to compile stats for you (sorry).

The rucking good stats stuff is active now, but like you said it's all SH except incoming tours. There is a company providing more detailed kicking stats on SH games as well, but i can't think who it is:

Thanks for the links. The goalkickers site is awesome and I have been looking for things like it and not found it, so big time thanks. I will definitely try to communicate with them about how they collect data.
