My first "official" match thread...I stole two of the logos from Invictus' NZ FRA test 1 thread and got the Blues logo from google image...I'm like...brilliant and stuff.

Anyways...well, should be interesting. I don't know the Blues well, but looking at some names there, I think France could potentially lose this...I dunno. We shouldn't of course, but...this is a kiwi side..and our gameplan is non-existent for long periods of matches and France of course has a tendency to underestimate "smaller" teams...*cough* cough* TONGA...
I hope for Weepu he won't CHOKE this time ;) as he did in the RWC two years ago...

For France:
Chouly to play this one perhaps. I know Fickou at center is preparing for this one.
Leroux, Nakaitaci, Andreu, Dulin to make an appearance ? PSA will obviously want to experiment a bit...it's this test or never on the tour.

This should be a good game much like the Reds vs Lions game the other night.

Well, as it's your first "official" match thread, Yoe, it would be rude not to contribute in some way to it, wouldn't it :)

Here is the Blues team for the match:

BLUES: Marty McKenzie, Frank Halai, Malakai Fekitoa, Jackson Willison, George Moala, Baden Kerr, Jamison Gibson-Park, Peter Saili, Brendon OConnor, Kane Barrett, Culum Retallick, Anthony Boric, Ofa Tu'ungafasi, James Parsons (captain), Sam Prattley. Reserves: Quentin MacDonald, Angus Ta'avao, Liaki Moli, Ronald Raaymakers, Sean Polwart, Chris Noakes, Tevita Li, Wayne Ngaluafe

I got the team from this stuff article: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/super-rugby/8771467/Blues-revved-for-Les-Bleus-rookie-Gibson-Park ... as you can see, none of their current All Blacks are available, but, as the article states, John Kirwin has given this young side licence to run the ball, so, hopefully we should get a good, positive match ... providing the weather gods don't intervene of course :)

I'm interested to see Anthony Boric goes, and Kane Barrett too ... Halai and Moala could cause some problems for France on the wings, if they get the opportunities to do so

... Does anyone have the French team?

... could be a good match, but it probably won't be televised here :(

It is being televised, Shaggy :)

Although this isn't a full strength team, there are enough game breakers etc. to ensure that if given a sniff, they could topple the French team - especially given it will probably be a less experienced French side.

I just noticed that I didn't "post" the message I had written yesterday in this thread. Bugger.

French team is out:
1. Ben Arous
2. Guirado
3. Mas
4. Flanquart
5. Samson
6. Le Roux
7. Nyanga
8. Claassen
9. Doussain
10. Tales
11. Andreu
12. Mermoz
13. Fickou
14. Nakaitaci
15. Médard

16. Kayser
17. Debaty
18. Kotze
19. Vahaamahina
20. Chouly
21. Michalak
22. Lopez
23. Dulin

Things to note: Mas straight back in. I'd have thought it better for him to start on the bench.
Vahaamahina on the bench. He played the full 80 minutes on Saturday, it probably means he won't start for the second test.
Chouly will be playing only ~8 hours after ariving.
Michalak as 9 cover (finally!)

On other news, Bastareaud is in doubt for the second test.

Love Marc Andreu but he may struggle with the 6'4'' 107kg Frank Halai.

His D is quite all right for a guy his size. He won't dominate his opposite, that's for sure, but he's done all right against much bigger (than him) opposition. He either goes straight to the anckles or uses the koala technique to wait for support.

We'll definately in with a chance to upset the French. Never count out the Blues.

..as in the 2nd test against the AB or the 2nd test of the Tour, i.e. this match ??

This will be a great "test" (not test-match) for the French youngsters, and very good experimentation for Mr. Saint-André here. Can't wait to see all those fresh faces all at once ! But we must have like 50 caps overall in this starting line-up !!...and 49 of them from Mas+Médard !...

This is not a test, this is a mid-week match. I meant for Saturday.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up the caps for each player. In decreasing order (only starters):

Mas (61)
Médard (33)
Nyanga (32)
Mermoz (25)
Guirado (18)
Andreu (6)
Samson (4)
Claassen (3)
Doussain (2)
Flanquart, Fickou (1)
Ben Arous, Le Roux, Tales, Nakaitaci (uncapped)

That's 186 caps in total. Good that we're trying new things, that's what midweek matches are for.

^ thanks for that. Oh shyt, Bastareaud doubtful for Test 2 you're right...along with Machenaud but that's not too bad though :p well he was alright really...

Blues without Ranger is a very light shade of blue...

Thanks for getting the Blues side up.

Thanks Invictus ... just not sure if it's an "important" enough match to displace the Soccer/Cricket/Rugby league/Other Rugby televised here in Canada :) ... I'm sure I'll watch it if it is

Sideburns playing well!

Edit: actually a lot of players seem to be playing well (out of what I can distinguish through the stream). Mas, Samson, Le Roux , Nakaitaci and Fickou have shown nice touches.

Claassens sure loves the touch line: If he's not passing into it he's running over it.

will be interesting to watch this whole...just caught the last 20 min again.
Score looks nice for France, thought they seemed like they should have scored one last try...

Blues looked to hold pretty well till about the 50th minute. Then France just took over. Beat down in the end. Good on France for participating in a mid-week game though,.

As bad as that was for the Blues. at least they didn't get curb-stomped like Microsoft did today (nerd/geek/E3 joke alert).

^ sorry, noooooo clue what you're blabbering about there buddy !!
anything to do with this whole new Xbox VS PS4 thingy ??..
