June International Test: Australia vs. England [1st Test] (11/06/2016)

Gettt innnn, brilliant stuff and all started by some great interrupting work from the MOTM Haskell again. C'mon England.

I hope Robshaw had a small smile when Aus went for the posts.

Great win for England. Very impressive game management and weathered what was a big storm in the first 20.

Nowell and Ford to start next week for me other than that no changes.

Game really changed with the Burrell call it was gutsy and ruthless of Jones to do it but it was exactly what was needed.

Delighted with that performance and result, things to work on still but hugely impressive.

If I was part of the Australian team I'd be kicking myself but that was pretty razor sharp from England. Our defence scares me but who cares man, who cares.

Second half ratings

Brown - Brought himself up to average
Watson - Did his job
Joseph - Few mistakes
Farrell - Good game
Yarde - Free try! Again, don't think he won his battles, don't think he lost them either
Ford - Two tries created through great vision and technique so the circle jerk starts up again; judging him on the small things, looks the same player as ever
Youngs - Good game

Vunipola M - Okay
Hartley - Okay
Cole - Nice come back in the scrum
Itoje - Nice
Kruis - Did his job
Robshaw - Quiet day at the office
Haskell - Probably his best 40 minutes in an England jersey; any openside would have been proud of that
Vunipola B - Again, solid outing, but not as effective

LCD - Second lineout is not high enough. Yeah, he's sold a bit of a bad one in that no one bothered to disguise its going to Mumm, but if he puts it high Itoje wins it
Every other forward - Did their job
Care - Cheeky cameo at the end
Nowell - Likewise, with that tackle on Kuridrani a nice highlight reel moment at the other end

Brilliant test match today, for the type of game it was I don't think England had barely a weak player on the pitch. Burrell couldn't get into the game but that happens to everyone, he'll be back. For all the running and possession the Aussies had England controlled the game in the right areas at the right times and that proved crucial.

Haskell, Itoje, Cole in the scrum, Farrell's kicking and Ford's introduction were all superb aspects of our game today, can't wait for the 2nd test.

That last try was harsh on Australia good decision to go for the win over the draw even though it did not pay off. That will teach everyone why you don't try and pass it from your own try-line. Haskell seemed to be everywhere tonight Motm.

Hask MOM.

Nowell in for Brown. Who for Burrell? Suspect it will be Ford with Faz moving, but their backs are a lot more powerful so I wouldn't mind seeing Teo. Totally indifferent to Yarde. Mako still infuriates the life out of me while Billy wasn't poor but not so dominant in a faster paced game. George for LCD on the bench, surely.

Feared the worst after the first 15mins but credit to England, they came back mainly to poor Oz discipline at the scrum. Australia still looked more dangerous running with the ball.
Sets up next weeks game perfectly.

Brown - Some poor moments but overall wasn't too bad.
Watson - Defensively got hugely shown up and didn't offer anything in attack either
JJ - Maybe responsible for Kuridrani try, other than that excellent
Burrell - Unlucky mate
Yarde - Defensively got shown up by Folau and scored a try that was gifted to him. Not bad, just not anything particularly good either
Farrell - World class kicker, had some defensive errors in the first half but overall was excellent
Youngs - Surprisingly good game, nothing special but didn't make any errors either
B. Vunipola - Quiet. His lack of fitness got exposed
Haskell - Excellent performance, shut down the Pooper and his work rate was second to none. Take a bow, you've shut up your critics (Me having been one of them)
Robshaw - Pretty similar to Haskell, made some crucial tackles and some turnovers. Has righted his RWC wrongs.
Kruis - Anonymous
Itoje - MOT first half, was world class. Went a bit quiet in the 2nd but still a great performance
Cole - Meh
Hartley - Led the side well, hit his targets in the lineout. Nothing special but a solid performance.
M. Vunipola - See B. Vunipola

LCD - Solid in the loose but he can't be an international hooker if he can't throw lineouts
Mullan - Set up Care's break which led to the Nowell try, but other than that anonymous
Hill - Pretty good. Great work rate for a THP. Can definitely see him taking Cole's shirt post Lions
Launchbury & Lawes - Both fine while on the pitch but weren't given much time to work with
Care - Great break for Nowell's try. Can't see him taking Youngs' shirt but good to have on the bench
Ford - Excellent when he came on, like the flankers has shut up his critics (Again, me being one of them). Should be starting next week.
Nowell - Defensively solid and scored a beauty of a try. Should be starting next week.

Enjoy this win for now. The series win is what England are after. Go to Melbourne (a non Rugby state) to win it. Not sure my heart can take going to Sydney at 1-1. Gonna be a great series.

Absolutely terrible positioning that could have cost England the game. I hope this was a one-off and not a general issue.

First half yeah, second half... thought he was okay but maybe missed something.
