Julien Dupuy

I still cant believe there are people in this thread questioning whether Dupuy actually did anything. I dont think I have seen many incidents that are THAT blatant and where intent could usually be questioned its clear he goes back for another stab at it. Absolute scum.

As for Shaggy, if he gets any kind of ban for that, especially given the Jennings ban (for the gouge that never was) it will be yet another sad day. I've no idea what he was doing but its not worth a ban.

I understand what you mean Dull, but high tackles are everything but accident, they are the result of what have been teached, practised without punishment for years.
Kind of things accepted in some country rugby at international level, as a solution when you are beaten on an action.

I make a difference on game actions and sportive behaviour. But here again, if it's a 6 month to 2 years ban for an attempt (from far as I can see for now), how much for all the fights, physicall attemp (I don't speak about what can't be see inside scrums) wich regulary fill the clubs infirmiries.

David Attoub and Julien Dupuy citings
14 December 2009, 4:57 pm
Stade Francais' players David Attoub and Julien Dupuy are due to appear before an Independent Disciplinary Hearing as a result of a citing arising from the Heineken Cup Pool 4 match against Ulster at Ravenhill, Belfast, on Saturday, 12 December, 2009.

.............................

Under the IRB Recommended Sanctions for Offences Committed within the Playing Enclosure, contact with the eyes / eye area carriers the following penalties:
Lower End: 12 weeks
Middle Range: 18 weeks
Top End: 24 weeks+
Maximum Sanction: 156 weeks[/b]

Given that Jennings got 12 weeks for nothing, you'd imagine both these lads are f***ed. The fact that Dupuy went back for seconds signals the intent, so your automatically looking at the 24+ penalty. Personally I'd like to see more then that.

As a guy on another forum said, the ERC have been looking for an excuse to go postal. Me thinks the Stade duo have set it all up nicely for them.

Don't know the Jenkin's case Logo, but if he has taken for nothing, as what happened for Tincu, last year, is it a good base to estimate what Dupuy deserve ?

Looks more like Ebay bidding than fairy applyance of the rules

Haven't seen any pictures, but Attoub's act seems to be not defendable at all, and the cause of Ferris marks. No one on the french forums to ask for mercy.

+1

Seriously a la carte, needs to be sorted.

Unfortunately for Stade these boys will more than likely be slammed to send a message. Well until some more stupidly lenient decisions are made

Only seems to happen to home nations internationals - Haskell & Hayes being the major pair of note from recent times.

"I was furious. There was argy-bargy throughout the game, and I don't mind that, rugby is a physical game.

"I would hate to get anyone cited and if someone hit me a dig in the jaw I would take it and get on with the game, but not when someone goes for your eyes." Stephen Ferris.

See that's an alright atttitude. Punch me in the face and I'll punch you back, but don't stick no fingers in me eye!

Only saw the Dupuy one. Does anyone have any evidence for the second one?

Edit:

He's in for it.

The second one actually gets some of the other blokes shirt in the eye aswell

Holy crap there's really not a chance then... Thanks Henry or Dupuy, I'll never dare go to Ireland again :(
Seriously though, I think Dupuy was a very good prospect for France but he has to be severely punished for what he did. Parra played well with Clermont yesterday, so I hope he keeps up the good work since he'll probably be our number one 9 for the 6N

Somebody said to me just there, that seeing as he got the shirt in his eye aswell, he might just have lost his bind on his team-mate and his finger land in a seriously unfortunate place...
bringing the jersey with him. I'd have to actually see a video of it, but could be a valid point.

So he'd been binding with one finger  I hadn't seen that photo before - he might as well be performing brain surgery. Thought that was Dr Roncero's job.

Does anyone have ANY idea why one player would use his finger to stab another player in the eye?

High tackles, punches, raking - all part of the dynamic of the game. But eye-gouging and joint-stamping are just criminal - bodily harm punishable at law.

His finger got caught on the jersey.

Like you're so clean in Munster. John Hayes, Alan Quinlan?

Justis4Bradley! Disgrace that he didn't get the Ireland Job last year.

And before I forget, Paul O'Connell beating up Jamie Cudmore? Thug.

Picture is really clear for Attoub, also to be called Mr Catbury now. All fingers folded back exept one, not a very usual position in rugby.
Should be the end of the season for him.
I stay on my position about Dupuy, a give me five to the face for sure, but hands wide open, we can even count the fingers and check that none of them is folded back.

Even if both act are to be punished, a good occasion for IRB to clearly make a difference beetween the intention to hurt (moreover in a position behind you hope to be hidden) and an instant "lex tallionis" reaction.

Do one westie, like your back row is full of saints! Jonny O'Connor (A former Pest no less!) and John Muldoon are hardly squeak clean now are they.

Anyway, based on those guidelines Dupuy and Attoub can both expect 24 weeks holidays.

Hehe. I don't mind people getting beat up. It's the stuff that stops them walking for the rest of the season ... or seeing their grandchildren gouge the eyes out of other children.

nahhh Dupuy was worse. he went back for second time to make sure. He's well and truly f***ed.

Although I agree on them being f***ed, and rightly so, I sense some sort of a Dupuy bashing here and on other forums (the rugbydump one particularly) from Irish fans. Some sort of a Henry handball vengeance maybe?

I love reading the rugby dump forum! It's like all the bias and prejudices you get here intensified 10 fold! Only thing that beats it is Keo. Has good videos though.

My biggest problem with the whole thing is that he was stupid enough to do it...twice...and not even at the bottom of a ruck, just broad daylight. Foola.

Meh, if it happened to an English or Welsh player there'd be much the same. Just be glad it didn't happen to a South African...

Edit: Can't beat Youtube mind. Mindless racism all over it. Good laugh.

Yeah you're probably right. But on rugbydump it's like 100 posts saying "you shitty little frog I hope he gets 100 years for what he did" and so on.
I had a good laugh too though ;)
