John Connolly has a little whinge about "dirty England"

" Australia expects England to hit them with 'rough' tactics in Saturday`s world cup quarter-final showdown in Marseille.

Wallaby head coach John Connolly revealed on Thursday that he met with IRB referee`s chief Paddy O`Brien and raised specific concerns about hooker Mark Regan.

'Knuckles' fears England will try to unsettle the Wallabies and urged referee Alain Rolland to clamp down on anything underhand.

'England picking Regan at hooker delivers intent', said Connolly. 'We`ve spoken to Paddy O`Brien to ensure that he behaves himself, just to ensure that the game`s fair and clean.'"



And it appears as if some of his team has caught onto the spirit of things too. This little beauty from Hugh McMeniman, also available on BBC sports news: "You can expect anything from the English really, definately off the ball stuff and anything if you are lying on the ground, a bit of a scratch in the eye, but all the boys have coped with that before."

Jeepers, talk about a persecution complex!

Yeah, just mind games, he wouldn't care too much, there is a reason his nickname is 'Knuckles'...

What he is doing is what every team does to our scrum, putting complaints out there so the ref will penalise the opposition a bit more then usual. I think it was the Welsh game that we got penalised for the scrum yet it was in fact the Welsh players who were in the wrong, the Poms have always had a bit of ****le in them but now the ref should probably not let alot of it go, which is good for us, coz damned if we are gonna have stigma on our scrum while the other teams run wild

Australia will give as good as we get. As Brodizzle said, its all just mind games. The art of winning the game off the field is an intricate one.

If the ref keeps a closer eye on England, then Australia will have more slack therefore allowing for us to employ more foul play. It may be Connolly whingeing, but its non-genuine, calculating whingeing.

Oh okay, thanks for that Truth. For those of you who can`t do the translation from Afrikaans to English, according to that article, Connolly says that he believes Bakkies to be God, and is concerned about one of his props eating large quantities of cheeseburgers before farting excessively and dropping something off in the loo. What the relevance of that is before an England/Aus game, nobody knows....
