Ireland v New Zealand

just watched the scotland vs nz game lol, i never watched it last week because the fiji vs france game was on at the same time. nz's forwards are what they used to be :( they looked like they missed Mealamu at the breakdown and even their scrum wasn't what it once was. before i thought nz would win by 35+ but now i'll go with an nz win by 20 - 25

Boric is average. He's not bad, he just has no part of his game that he excells in. Good person to have in you S14 side when there is on one better.

Looking forward to seeing Hosea Gear verse Tommy Bowe. I expect Cory Jane to get the better of Fitzgerald. If Nonu came on, I wouldn't like him to replace Gear on the wing.

Thorn seemed a little slow to the break down last week, maybe thats why Boric is being given a chance

I've been reading posts rather than commemting lately because I've turned into such a pessimest that I didn't want to infect everyone.

Think we're gonna get our arses kicked. Team seems to have know tactical mind. They force thin gs when they need to slow it down and they kick it away with overlaps. They're just not French enough.

on that stream of thought we're unadventerous with Team selection. DK is turning into an Eddie with his selection policy. Boooo.

At least they know they're playing rubbish and admit it so it gioves me some hope that they might sort it out by tomorrow evening.

Where's Earls, Varley and Ross? Grrrr. Can understand the O'Brien - Wallace decision. O'Brien was disappointing last Saturday, that said., I'd still give hiom another crack at the whip.

Good post monkey.
3 Munster
3 Ulster
1 Osprey
8 Leinster

But been honest Leinsters best attribute I feel has been their pack and their backs haven't been on fire so I really wonder is it justified they have 6 of 7 backs. I not criticising they have majority of players just best fellas in best form should be picked.
I also ask is DK told certain lads have to be included to justify contracts they are on.

I think you have a point in saying about the contacts like Hayes i think you've been saying he has been promised game time. I don't think all the selections are DK's fault he was always a smart selector with Munster so why would that change.

I agree Lynam like I know that Ferris deserves 6 but there always Ulster player (hence Trimble ahead of Earls last week athough I know Court played) regardless of form. I think DK has been swallowed by politics and fact IRFU have to be seen getting value from contract.

Was Earls even fully fit for that game? No point chucking him in against Samoa if he wasn't. Trimble mightn't have been in great form, but he's still Ireland's best back as a raw athlete in terms of power + pace and went well in the summer. Giving him a run at some point made sense.

Kidney's problem (imo) is he's selected his World Cup squad in his head and is currently trying to make it as ready as possible for that. So he's more interested in employing those likely to make the squad than those on the fringes. He's also very deliberately going with experience in most places to try and soften the coming blow here, rather than damaging the confidence of up and coming young men like what happened in the Tour to Hell.

he can't catch the ball!!!!!!!!!

Let's just throw out all of the current players start playing the best 17, 18 and 19 year olds we have. Come world cup 2019 we'll have the most experienced team there is. It's flawless!

Andrew Conway would be better than any other Ireland back anyway so I think that a good call. :D

After watching Munster and Leinter play this week I am happy to say that Ireland have alot of talent but Kidney doesn't want to know about it. The provinces are playing a great attacking game, they have a strong set peice and good ball protection. Everything Ireland doesn't have.

Just a question - If we get a mauling then will DK be under alot of pressure to change personnel? And I don't mean for Argentina game (As we all know we will let players in for chance here)
but for 6N and in preperations for World Cup.

Varley, Paul O'Connell, Leo Cullen, Sean O'Brien, Issac Boss/Tomas O'Leary, Keith Earls, Johne Murphy and Mike Ross.

These are players (excluding injured players) who are on form and have been playing massive parts in the success of their provinces and just get treated like dirt over some players that have failed to perform for provinces and are playing based on reputation. Paul O'Connell will be a massive boost and well he is back in contact training now which is excellent, but DK needs to reward form.

Kidney isn't afraid to make changes. In his time with Munster he promoted Ian Dowling and Barry Murphy into the Heineken Cup team out of the blue. He eased long time stalwarts Frank Sheahan, Shaun Payne, Peter Stringer and Anthony Foley out of the team in favour of the fresher Jerry Flannery, Denis Hurley, Tomas O'Leary and Denis Leamy. If circumstances dictate that he must make changes, Kidney will do so. It's just a shame that he didn't do so sooner.

Snoop - He did it with Munster I agree but where is it with Ireland. With Munster Kidney had a bigger say I feel

I doubt that. Kidney hand picked his assitants, flying half way around the world to secure Les Kiss and Gert Smal as part of his team. He also holds sway in who the provinces pick and when, in what position they play (notably in Paddy Wallace's case) and also the amount of minutes they play. In my opinion Kidney has too much of a say in teams he doesn't directly control.

With Ireland he's eased Cian Healy, Jamie Heaslip, Tomas O'Leary, Jonny Sexton, Tommy Bowe, Rob Kearney and Luke Fizgerald into his preferred team. He now needs to pick up the pace and ease others like Sean Cronin, Mike Ross and Keith Earls in too.
