IRB Player of the year - 2010

actually reading how they score the players to come up with the winner the reality is McCaw was always going to be the winner. He is constantly the best or next best players on the day game in and game out. Clean sweap for NZ on the big awards. Hardly suprising, Just reflects how good a year it's been for the team. Now they just have to do it all again next year!

He really was head and shoulders this year. Still the year before was very, very dodgy. Maybe the slate is clean now and the catch up method used since Shane Williams win is finished

I rekon Kieren Read should get a shot at it, but if not he's sure to take the Steinlarger player of the year honours. Other then than that theres alot of contenders in there like David Pocock, Captin Awsome Richie McCaw or Dan Carter

Good for Richie, Henry and the team.

But the reality is; they won't care too much about this year's acheivements if everything goes to the pack next year.

Next year is what matters.
The NZ public is sick of the RWC underacheiving.

But the cold hard facts are (well, I use the term "facts" loosely, as it is my opinion) that come next october/november; Wlaes, England, SouthAfrica, France and Australia will all have caught up to the All Blacks.

It will come down to how they turn up on the day and (UNFORTUNATELY) who the ref likes on the day.

I dont know about that. though I'd like to see the AB's win a WC before I die like most NZers I like watching the AB's win every game. Would I rather the AB's were like england who managed to pull together for one great year and win a WC and then hardly feature for years on end? Or like SA who won a WC by default then Lose a home test to the AB's 19 - 0 the very next year?

No I think I'd still rather the AB's were winning ~87% of their tests like the have done for the last 7 years under henry While the Aussies are forgetting what XXXX tastes like when drunk from the bledisloe cup. In comparison the next best teams in the world SA are winning ~60% and AUS ~50%. NZ would go into a depression if the AB's only won that often.

Well done to McCaw, Henry and the All Blacks. I think it's a fair outcome to be honest. Bad luck to Pocock, Beale, Muliaina and Matfield all of whom were in the running, and Beale and Pocock have a big future ahead of them to win the award.

Good for you, because NZ is not gonna win it...:bleh!::bleh!:

We've all been given a hard time about the whole world cup thing for so long that many New Zealanders do realise that we could lose this one as well. Many are braced for it. There's zero arrogance about it now. If we win it, it'll be a huge bonus and everyone will be extra happy. Although now all people are truly worried about is trying to win most games and stay number one. A world cup is really just a glorified trophy. Sure the most distinguished trophy, but it's not really about being the best team in the world for any more than the number of weeks it takes to win it. Just look at past winners, some have had very poor tenures as "World Champions" in name only.
