Anyone got suggestions for who might be showing the game tomorrow night in melbourne?

I'm not sure if you mean pubs but for your free fix, Drakulastream (now Batmanstream) does the trick.

Ahhh the memories. I recall first moving to that great city and hunting around bars desperate to locate a TV showing Super Rugby (or any rugby). In the end we located a food court/bar down the east end of Collins St and later and Irish pub on the Southbank. By the following year I'd become a true blue North Melbourne AFL supporter and only wanted to watch Aussie Rules. Now that's a sport that should be at the Olympics.

Turf Bar in Queen St. city always shows Rugby turfbar.com.au You may also want to try The Maori Chief in South Melbourne. 99% sure they will show the game but it might be worth calling first.

i was born in melbourne, lived her all my life. AFL sucks - Rugby is a far greater sport

That's for tips guys, meeting an afl supporting mate in south Melbourne so may end up at the Maori chief

Can't agree with you there INSANE. I played rugby for over 30 years, love the game and analyse it to death. However, I just found Aussie Rules to be a great sport once I got into it. Love the end to end play and the passion. Mind you, when I began supporting North Melbourne we had Glenn Archer, Mick Martin and Dave King who were all hard ******** and would have gone a long way in rugby had they decided to play that sport.

fair enough. I grew up on AFL in the 80's - it was called VFL back then and I thought it was so much better than the commercialised product they ram down people's throats these days. Even in the 90's with Archer, Martin and King it was far better than today's game. players are wrapped in bubble wrap now days :)

So how did you enjoy your weekend Jabby? not tempted to go and see the Rebels v. Force yesterday?if you went to the Maori Chief, I hope it was good. I haven't been there for a while but I watched the RWC2011 final there - quietest the place has been during a game :D

Met at the Limerick on Clarendon street and then made our way to my mates local the "palace" as he knew he could ask for the game to be put on...was up since 2am so by the end of the game and three beers i was pretty much gone...burgers back in the hotel by 10pm...really good burger though!

nice one - forgot to mention The College Lawn is also a "rugby pub" of sorts if you or anyone else is ever back here

Ugh! You barracked for North Melbourne? What on earth possessed you to support that bunch of filth?

As a Monash U student in the 1980s, I spent many a Saturday arvo at Moorabbin Oval.... "Go you Saints!!!!"

Bought a house in Kensington, near Flemington racecourse. Wanted to support the local team, so it was either North Melbourne or Western Bulldogs. Got into the tipping comp at work and then went to the ANZAC Day game at MCG. 90,000 feral Collingwood and Essendon fans. I was hooked.
Still keen to watch rugby and I went to Melbourne University grounds a couple of weekends, but the standard was about Senior B back home so I flagged it (This was before the Rebels were formed). I attended the first Melbourne Storm Rugby League game vs North Sydney Bears and I ended up going to quite a few games over the seasons. However all any of the locals would ask is what AFL team I supported and then a long debate would ensue, with them telling me why their team was better than mine. So I needed to become knowledgable.

Vic Rugby has improved a lot since the pre-rebels days. A lot of players are now coming from interstate and overseas as it's a pathway into the Rebels, just look at Sefa Naivalu - went from Box Hill to the Rising to the Rebels within 18 months. Also the non-playing Rebels are sent back to play Vic Rugby now which has also raised the standard of the comp.

I usually head down to Footscray every now and then as that's my closest ground.

feel sorry for some kiwis over here though...knew someone who chose Collingwood - reason: same colours as the All Blacks hahahahahaha sucked in!
