Heineken Cup 2013/14 Pool 5, Round 6 (Leicester v Ulster, Montpellier v Treviso)

We can take them.

Clermont haven't lost at home for 73 matches .......
Let's hope racing stop them from scoring 4 tomorrow because Toulon aren't looking great atm lost at home to Grenoble a few weeks back

There's no reason why Leicester can't beat them. We nearly got them in their own garden a few years back, and they've been run close a number of times.

The balance of probabilities does dictate a home victory in Clermont though.

Yep I agree . Although someone like Leicester or ulster would be the ones to get a gritty win over there . Neither have been great this year from what I've seen

Just finished watching the Ulster win and very, very enjoyable.....what a game from Pineaar!!

Well someone will have to beat them eventually. it a long shot but who knows what team turns up.
out of the 2 Toulon is the preferred option, unless it is a final then I would go with Clermont. ;)

Rory Best was also outstanding in the game. His work rate was superb. A cracking game.

Did not see the game but congratulations to Ulster going unbeaten in this comp deserves buckets full of credit, better get Pienaar on a 100 yr contract before Toulon start offering him the town and a salary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are still looking for a 9.

Just in case no one knows Montpellier did win with a bonus point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
see you all next season hopefully!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well whats to say, if you cannot keep the pressue up for 80 minutes your going to lose. We were good in patches but that Ulster team looks very solid. You either kick and turn them or get quicker ball and spread which wasnt going to happen with Youngs at Scrum half.

Sums up the season really, lost our hard edge no chance of going further I am afraid must make sure we get into the top 6 to qualify for next years.....oh wait.

The difference him and Henry make to Ulster's pack is astonishing and mildly worrying.

They offered it to him, he said no. Gotta love him.

Next year's elite European competition that Wray seems pretty certain will happen?

True but scrum has been poor for Ulster. But they have Tigers rattled as any pen within half the pitch they know Ruan has the boot to punish

Ayerza tired towards the end. Leicester suffered from having two poor sub props on the bench whilst Tom Court had a good cameo.

True. As game went on Tigers lost there dominance at scrum and line out became easy to challenge due to injuries.
But as I said at HT in it. Piennar has a huge boot and I'd say anything within 55m he will have high chance of slotting. Wind or no wind

I can't get my head around when the ball went dead (which I though was in touch btw)

Watching live I thought it was out behind.

On the replay it looked in touch.

Leicester had 2 scrums which went down whilst Leicester were going forward and Nigel reset them then 1 goes down with ulster on top and they get a penalty?

+1 on your questioning of it. I though you guys had earned penalties both the first and second scrums. You might not have scored a try off them, but you at least deserved the chance.

But I suppose questionable decisions surrounding only 2 instances is a pretty damn good outing for any ref.

Absolutely . I though Nigel had a really good game . It's just frustrating that the scrum is more often than not a mess ....

Well done to Ulster, it's not many teams who can turn Leicester over at WR in the HC.

I was really looking forward to this as Leicester had a few of their injured stars coming back. The game showed that Tigers need some time to gel again. They were scrappy and just didn't have the cohesion in the backline that we enjoyed watching towards the end of last season, when they were pretty much unplayable.

Ulster have on hell of an impressive rush defense and Leicester just had no answer to it.

Tigers should have spotted this and altered their game and put more chips/grubbers though. The players obviously didn't see that a tactical change was needed, but I'm really disappointed that the coaches in the stands didn't spot this and get the message down onto the pitch. The one time Flood tried the grubber - we scored!

Losing Tait and Crane early doors didn't help either. Tait is much more of a threat than Hamilton and Crane has been great for us this season.

Well done to Ulster, an impressive performance from them, but I'm actually not too down about this defeat - it was only by a solitary missed penalty after all.

Players like Allen, Slater, Mafi and Tait have not long come back from injury. With some more time to get more cohesion and then Tuilagi and Parling to returning as well, Leicester Tigers will be a very different proposition in two months' time.

You can get odds of 4/1 on Tigers winning the AP this season. If I were the gambling kind (which, thank the Lord I'm not, sir), I'd definitely have a flutter.
