HEC P5: Leinster v ASM Clermont Auvergne

Poor reffing by Barnes there on two penalties...

But **** sake...Sean.

****.

Some of Barnes' reffing has been very bad.

Chaume was standing in the one before that.

EDIT: Nacewa off very strange.

Ah I don't think it was that bad an offence...he didn't swing into him at all

I think it was the fact that he was blindsided and therefore not braced for the impact made it worse. Still expect repercussions in the week.

Very nice victory from Clermont, largely deserved, very happy with the result :)

I fear that this is James's revenge against Leinster and, one can only hope, the commentators can now stop regurgitating his implosion that day!!

He was over that when they beat Sarries last season at Watford.

Great performance by ASM and not looking good for quallifying for Leinster..............Incidentally, I thought Barnes has had a good game!!

I'm happy enough.... :p

**** from Leinster. Lucky to get the point there. doggie calls from barnes at time but Leinster were woeful. It's not our year simple as that sure we can throw everything at the last two rounds and see how that goes but we'll need a lot of luck to get to the 1/4's.

At least this year should stop Clermont being seeded lower than teams like Biarritz.

Pretty good match, I was confident we could get the defensive bonus there given that Leinster barely threaten our try line at home and on our side we were very close to score some tries.
I didn't expect a win though, and now I feel frustrated that we let Leinster the defensive bonus at the last minute !

Now let's try not to do a "Toulouse" - understand, completely let down a winnable match like this afternoon - and win the remaining games to ensure the first place, as it's far to be over.

I would like to agree as they, and others, deserve to be higher than BO, but would not be too sure as I believe it is to do with historical times of qualifying for the competition....if it is about next year!!

+1

I'm fed up of Biarritz getting gentle pools. It's about time they got a pool with Leicester and Toulouse in it like the Ospreys get, and have been getting similar pools for some time now. Clermont and Leinster being in the same pool as two of the strongest sides these past few years is also questionable.

I think the seedings need to be done by league table position. They moved to rankings as the Italian league champions would get top seeds and make an easy pool, but now they are in the Celtic League they can go back to first two in each league getting top seeds in the pool.

I cannot agree more, Clermont has been so unlucky in the pool draw in the past five years, it is just ridiculous. These two teams are, by a mile, the two best teams in the HC and they end up in the same pool. Leinster is on the receiving end this time but Clermont had its fair share of cruelty.
