HEC P4: Ulster Rugby vs Northampton Saints

Right, I'm not saying I'm Jesus, but....

5 points ahead in pool 4, and I still feel physically sick. Absolutely furious.

Congratulations Northampton. Well responded.

That was very disappointing. We had the chances, but one missed tackle from Trimble and about a million missed chances and dropped balls cost us. So many stupid errors.

This is Anscombe's real test now. We're missing the heartbeat of the team, he's now got to pick us up and restore us to what we were. I'd have always traded defeat here for victory over Leinster, we need that. They're rocking too, that is the challenge.

Btw - for all the Henderson lock or 6 debate, you don't answer questions on a single match, but it would seem to look like they know what they're doing putting him at 6.

I don't think it was entirely Trimble's fault, yes he should have been lower, but I think a head butt in the side of the jaw set him off balance.

3 opportunities that if we had any other day, we'd have scored it in a heartbeat. We should have beat Northampton on points, but they were the better team. No excuses, congratulations Northampton.

Ulster need a kick up the arse after that.

Yeah, interesting fending technique with the head and all - but law of the jungle, that was Trimble's tackle to make and he didn't, doesn't matter how you were done when you get done.

Unbelievably wasteful. Feel quite glum now.

Upsetting to say the very ****ing least. We didn't deserve to be in the game horrible just horrible, Ulster have won games by loads by big margins without playing well and the deck of cards folded, and although Trimble did miss the tackle he looked the most dangerous out of all the Ulster players.

Raging is the only way to describe it...

Ulster probably should have won it, but we could have had another 3 or 4 tries ourselves if we had been more clinical. From a Saints point of view it's just nice to see the players actually having some passion in the shirt. Has been missing this season, but that match was won purely through effort and determination. Still plenty to work on skill wise, but a huge improvement from last Friday's humiliation.

We got more than we deserved... we shouldn't even have got a losing bonus point.

Well done saints, hope the visiting support enjoyed their day and night.

Its the kick up the hole we needed, now we'll see over the next few weeks if we are the real deal, or merely flattering to deceive.

Belfast is an outstanding city. These friendly Irishmen kept handing me full glasses of whiskey all evening!

I think I went to a rugby match too. Not too sure though, the whole evening is a foggy, drunken blur!

Salut Ulster fans, super bunch and made us so welcome. I'll be returning next time.

Tommy Bowe to miss 6 Nations with lateral ligament damage to right Knee........................

Oh for **** sake - I'm more annoyed about him missing the season for Ulster than Ireland. This is going to seriously hinder his chances for the Lions.

Our backline's taking a serious hammering this season. Appalling news for Tommy - suppose the silver lining is the likes of Gilroy, Nelson and Allen get more development time.

When's Ferris back anyway? Forgot about him tbh, and Sean Doyle? Remember him? Haha

Sean Doyle has a broken leg... not sure on when he is due back... maybe end Dec, start Jan.

As for 1F... personally I think the question might be "should Stevie come back?" - he is probably doing himself long term damage at this point.

Think you'd have to deploy tanks to stop Fez from coming back. I know its probably not in his own interest - hell, he's probably already done the long term damage already - but he does not strike me as the type to stop playing if he can at all help it.

That said, I've stopped counting on him. He's a great bonus when he's around, but Henderson's now the present as well as the future.
