Guinness Pro 14: Round 2

The bottom line is Embra ran in 4 tries to Dragons zero. The TMO ruled foot in touch and the pic indeed showed that to be the case . Look forward to Glesca putting on the style against Ospreys . Looks good at half back with Russell turning up. Bench should not let them down .

Again an IRFU ref in a match with an Irish side, this time refusing a borderline decision to send of Nacewa for the clothesline (I'd have come down on the side of a red personally). Is Brace from Northern Ireland, and therefore considered neutral? It's a bit infuriating given that the Pro14 is publicly talking about ref neutrality. They need to "walk the walk".
For the purposes of rugby we are one nation. Northern Ireland doesn't come into it. I find the issue of ref neutrality to be a bit of a non issue to be honest. I find that if anything they're very careful not to show favoritism because it's such an easy thing to pull them up on. The Nacewa hit looked really bad on first viewing, but a yellow was about right. Can understand if he's cited, but don't expect anything to come of it.

I'm absolutely not having a pop at the refs in either match. I just find it bizarre when as a competition you publicly state the importance of neutral refs, then have two weeks in a row where an Irish side is officiated by an IRFU ref.

Maybe Nigel Owens being down at the Rugby Championship is making it more difficult to rotate them, but Edinburgh vs Dragons could have taken an Irish ref and given the South African to Leinster vs Cardiff. It's not difficult!

Sam Davies having a 'mare! Handed this to Glasgow. Scots looking good in the early rounds.

Ospreys with the bulk of possession up to 60 minutes lacked the ability to penetrate a solid Glasgow defence . Glasgow looked the fitter side in the last quarter and produced a raft off individual skills for a comfortable and encouraging win .

When is Conway's contract up? About time he came home I reckon. In other news, the Cheetahs are very poor.

Alex Wootten looks like a white Lamelo Ball.

Hard to say anything positive about the Cheetahs, error prone and the players look like they don't want to be there. Hope things improve, heetahs really need to learn how to show grit when it matters.
Munster are just too physical and strong, classic rugby executed well.

Brace is from Cardiff originally.

Treviso have already reached double figures in points scored after just 145 minutes of competitive action. The sky's the limit.

Munster have back three players coming out their ears. 4 tries to Alex Wootton today. With Keith Earls, Andrew Conway, Darren Sweetnam and Simon Zebo also on the books, competition for places should spur each player to improved performances. Great to see for Irish rugby.

Whereabouts in Munster is Wootton's hometown Macclesfield? Is it the parish next to CJ Stander's George?!

I should try sarcasm more often. Another try from Treviso, 8 minutes to go and trailing now by just 7 points.

Thanks for the info on Brace @profitius, maybe that is something they take into account in terms of whether a referee is "neutral".

Came to us via Northampton academy. Have been hyping him a while now. Serious wheels and step.

This is some slapping. Cheetahs can cut us open at times but they'll never have a chance if their forwards let us walk all over them.

Not that it makes any significant difference but the ref has missed at least three knock ons and s forward pass from Munster here. Can only really rub salt in the wounds.

Probably wrecked but Conway made like three awful reads there. Doesn't matter though. Good result and a baptism of fire for the Cheetahs. Should be a far more competitive affair in Connacht soon.

Whoever scouted him did a good job. In general Munster have done excellently at reinforcing their squad with players born outside the province. They've now got a quality squad of up and coming players who'll complement the home grown talent.

The last couple of weeks have been an eye opener for the SA teams. Thought the Cheetahs had a good shot at winning in Ulster and didn't think they'd be so comprehensively outplayed today. Nearly 100 points conceded is dreadful. I'm sure they'll improve drastically. Hopefully the improvement starts after Leinster's visit to Bloemfontein!

Treviso of course blow it 10m out with a chance to tie the game. In breaking news... good weather in Galway!
