A French website has reported that he's signed a 3 year contract with Racing Metro.
Can't help but be disappointed sure he's injury prone but he was still a great potential option for the Boks, I can't help but feel this is a bad decision for the young man as well, sure he's earning a ton more money, but he's going to compete with Jonothan Sexton, and he's not even become the genuine article. He could play in South Africa for another 5 or 6 years and be worth a lot more overseas, not to mention his Springbok aspirations. This doesn't bode well for our future talent, a starting player (just about) would rather go to France at the age of 21 than play for his country.

Based on previous experience, we should get confirmation about this from the Cheetahs first, or from Goosen. How often has it happened that a french newspaper reports something like this, and then it's not true?

As for the other thing you mentioned, I can't really agree, He's already a springbok, and it's good for him to take the opportunity given to him. Frans Steyn did the exact same thing at age 21 and also went to Racing Metro. He's now back in SA and happily married. Let Goosen go if he wants to, he's still young and should take the opportunity given to him.

And HM will still pick him if he's available.
