Gatland appointed Lions Manager

Who would coach Wales over the summer if Howley went as well? I thought he was going to be the one in charge, I can't imagine the WRU allowing him to go (unless he has it written in to his contract).

Would be happy with Schmidt, but I think as long as it's not Farrell we should be OK

McBryde would be likely.

I'd like to see Schmidt go infront of Howley. Howley attacking play lacks much attack.

It's only a tour to Japan so it won't really matter. It's likely to be McBryde or Shaun Edwards like Cymro said or perhaps they would call on a regional coach like they did in 2009, Phil Davies perhaps...

What with Bath? Don't think so.................If not Gatland, and I know that Draggs is being ironic, then who is there..................Kidney? Now that would be a laugh!!!!
I would have begged Nick Mallett. He hasn't got a job yet, has a lot of international experience, was born in England (although he hasn't got ties to English rugby), and must have gotten to know a lot of the B&I players through the six nations.

Pretty sure the other coaches don't miss anything so I'd be pretty happy for Schmidt to be involved especially if it makes the Lion's do moves like the try vs Cardiff.

Owen Farrell would be the whole backline.

Schmidt would be class. The man is a backs genius. Also, he likes his backs big, so you could expect to see Roberts, North, Tommy Bowe, etc. in there.

I'd jizz everywhere if he was in charge of a world class back line.

Robert Howley is much better. I'll trade you, we don't want Leinster having to suffer an inferior coach. :)

So a mixture of this, and Gatland being the head honcho, means that Alex Cuthbert will be starting.
Yay.

Aye, Cuthbert was our best wing this season. Scored tries for fun with the Blues and looked good starting for Wales.
Banahan on the other wing, right?

Ill be very disappointed if the Lions don't win the series this year they've got more than enough talent to turn the Aussies over in all three tests if the team can gel together well. There's so many world class options, and the only area which the lions are really at all weak is at number 9. The Aussie's are very inconsistent and are clearly the weakest of the big three SH sides at the moment. The Lions are definitely in with their best chance to win a series since 97 imo.

There's still another year before the series begins - that's plenty of time for Oz to come right.

We'll lose the series because Gatlands in charge and there'll be several welsh players in the squad - they're all scared s**tless by the Aussies :p

I'm so glad they chose Gatland to head the lions tour. If anybody knows how to win tough games down under, it's him.
