The list came out earlier today. Conform to the FFR/LNR (in other words "France/clubs") agreement of picking 30 players for the year, who will be benefit from a custom-made calendar between club duty and national duty.
And there's a surprise in the group (well a few, really):
Le Groupe XV de France :
Avants (FORWARDS) : Domingo, Debaty, Mas, Slimani, Kayser, Szarzewski, Flanquart, Maestri, Papé, Vahaamahina, Chouly, Claassen, Picamoles, Burban, Dusautoir, Ouedraogo, Nyanga, Le Roux.
Demis (HALFBACKS) : Machenaud, Parra, Michalak, Trinh-Duc, Talès.
Arrières (BACKS) : Bastareaud, Lamerat, Fofana, Médard, Bonneval, Dulin, Huget
FLYHALVES:
Yes, that's right, your eyes do not deceive you, François Trinh-Duc will be part of France in the next 6N, and more importantly, RWC. I must say I'm quite psyched about it, hadn't been happy about too many things, but this can only be good for Frankreich (or "Faransa", in Arabic...).
Of course, Michalak who doesn't play important matches for the RCT, and plays 9 for his club, is selected to play for the xv de France...Plisson may not be ready, but Lopez didn't die, my dear Saint-André, he's only been injured...on his day, he's as good as any fly-half in the league ffs...so that's 3 flyhalves in the group for ya...
SCRUMHALVES:
I agree with Parra and Machenaud. We've got a large number of options there, and apparently Kockott isn't one of them I see...although they might select him for next November, and I'm not sure how flexible that list/the agreement are if they'd want to operate minor changes later.
I read somebody calling Doussain the next Michalak, but SH version. I'd tend to agree with this a little bit, 1 very good game out of 4...
FLANKERS:
What the shhit is Claassen doing in here ? He's pretty good (and a Castrais...), but a guy on the rise like youngster Lapandry who's proven test match material, or Wenceslas Lauret and the sort of tackler/fetcher high workrate, athletic profile he brings to the third row ?..meh,...at least they got Burban. It's clear PSA wants MASS, that third row has quite a bit of meat in it and he didn't go for other lighter options.
CENTRES:
Only 3 picked. I'm very happy my most recent favorite cutie errr I mean up-and-coming French player of course, Lamerat, has been picked. Although it's unfair as fk for Florian Fritz. Just wtf ?? Fritz was absolutely primordial, essential to France, and all of a sudden he isn't picked for the next tour (Australia), and isn't either for the whole of the next calendar year ?!! Including RWC ??...and what about Fickou who's actually played for France ? I see it's the MASS thing again, Lamerat busts holes, stays on his feet with 4 guys on him with his 105kg...Fritz is pretty brutal but not as big.
So it's Fofana, Basta and Lamerat at midfield. Pretty sexy if you ask me, although I feel for Fritz, Fickou and Mermoz respectively.
WINGERS:
Médard picked again, just wtf...no comment. Well yes, just this: we've got A DOZEN world class, pure wingers in this fcking nation, why, WHY select 2 fullbacks who'll play wing ???....
