i have been watching this on youtube and creaming my pants

i am getting a notebook this weekend

has anyone had experience in this game, what controllers/joysticks etc

what notebook specs

i am a complete n00b in this world

It's outstanding. I have it. I use a 360 controller which doesn't do it justice really.

what about this desktop rig? - i can get for AUD$1600.00

INTEL QUAD Q8200 2.3GHz

GA-EP45-DS4P / ASUS P5Q-PRO

4GB DDRII 800Mhz

500GB SATA II HDD 7200RPM

20X DVD+/-RW DUAL LAYER

NVIDIA 9600GT 512MB DDR3

Are computers and thing generally more expensive in australia? 1600$ and only getting a 9600GT is just awful, you can get something along the same lines with a few upgrades for just over 900 here in canada

sorry its including a monitor i havent listed
yes australia is generally more expensive
if i built it myself it would cost AUD$1200, but i dont know what i am doing

I used to play FS2004 a lot, and got quite good at it haha.
Always good for some fun!

it depends on what size screen you play it on. a smaller screen and resolution won't be as demanding of the graphics card and the cpu. the bigger resolutions need more graphical and cpu power to get the best settings in the game. if you do a google search for flight sim x forums should find a decent community where you could ask or find about how it runs on various pcs and what exactly will boost your performance the best.

Considering that Microsoft have just closed down the studio responsible for the Flight Sim games, consider it an unexpected swan song...

Flight Sim X does have a bit of a reputation for needing quite demanding specs at the time of its release, but I think the recent shabby PC ports of GTA IV and Saints Row 2 have put it into some perspective...

Yeah it was released in 2006, so todays pc’s seem to handle it well

Its just if u want max settings u needs a quad mofo 4gb ram and a nice graphics card

I am a max settings man

I suggest u all type in FSX on youtube and feast ur eyes on the most beautiful game of all time

So very soon, i'll be 24/7 TRF, in between flights on FSX

if you ever get bored with fsx look up a game called dcs black shark. it's a helicopter sim and it has everything down to the last little switch and the developers got access to the real thing so it's the closest you will get to flying that helicopter without flying it.

Your f*$ken better then the last Qantas pilot I had!! His landing was terrible!!!

This is a crazy game I'm gonna have to buy this one.

seriously this is a whole new life for me
always wanted to be a pilot - but courses and training was too expensive
In FSX the whole world is in the game â€"ie you can fly wherever u bloody want, and the real world landscapes and landmarks, cities and towns and airports are there.

There are 24,000 airports in the game!!!
I cant put this down, its seriously one of the best game I have ever played

Some wont even call it a game â€" I do, because I play on the easiest settings (which is still hard for a newb like me)

It's a fantastic simulation, have had all of them since release. The REALTIME weather is cool which updates every 15 minutes. If it's cloudy and rainy in Cardiff it will be cloudy and rainy in the game :) Complex game but can be good fun.

Get a nice force feedback joystick and set a commercial airliner (737 or whatever) to autopilot and play with the heading and altitude adjuster and watch the joystick move on it's own. I'm easily amused hehe. Also if you got a spare monitor set it up for dual. It's even better then. I want 3 tho :p

i have the saitek cyborg x - its not forcefeedback - but it has throttles on the side and like 20 buttons - i love it

this is what amuses me
set a commercial airliner (737 or whatever) to autopilot and play with the heading and altitude adjuster get to cruising altitude - turn off the no smoking sign and spark up a ciggy, and soak in the surroundings up in the sky

epic ***le!!
