I started playing the game with the idea that I was not even going to bother with the easier two levels and just jump in to a world league on elite...I got a kicking up the backside that would've made me retire from international rugby if I was any of the guys on that squad. The AI scoring well into the 50's. !! It seems on Elite you will get punished for taking stupid chances, the attacking fullback ran through the whole of my team on several occasions, granted this is because my defence is still very poor but I thought I had good training with 05 - big mistake so I will be taking it easy on the pro level for a while nursing my ego

THIS GAME IS THE GREATEST RUGBY GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED

I was up til 3:30am..........have had 2 hrs sleep

so damn tired, but so damn excited to get back home again and kick-on the world league

doing WL on elite - did a season, came 4th, 2nd season lost 1st game, but i got Charvis now so my possession should start swinging

won the tri nations on pro

it takes a few game to get used to new mechanics, but once mastered u can only spend a game or two on pro, and moving to elite is great....its not as bad as last year with the possession, and tactial kicking rules the roost

highlights

the replays - i can watch them all day
grubber try - did my 1st grubber try and it was GOLD
cross kick set play - a cracker...deadset bliss

the only problem i have is u are limited to 3rd division teams in world league, so u cant take control of your favourite club, unless u support puss
and the conversions in elite level..............deadset near impossible

overall the best game i have played since pes5
every try is different
every match plays different - depending on conditions and teams playing

its just F***KIN AWESOME.................if u dont like this game, u really hard to please

by far the best rugby game...its got depth, free flowing rugby, tactical kicking, great graphics....AND AN ATMOSPHERE LIKE PES............THE CROWD ROARS, THE CROWD ROARS.

Thus for you, I cannot comprehend what impact 2006 is going to have on you.....i'd say make sure ur pc doesnt over heat

This game has blown my mind.......I never thought HB could get anything right.....

Dont get me wrong, its not perfection like PES etc

its looks similar to 2005........but the control machanic is 100 perfect now....360 degrees of analogue turning, and the offloads are awesome.....

For sound and atmosphere (not comentary) - this game is a flat out 10/10...i mean close ur eyes with this MOOSE loaded up, and u'd think u either at a bledisloe match of even a FIFA World Cup soccer match.....the chants are crazy, the noise borderlines distortion................makes the experience 100% appreciated, coz u have a packed house of fans cheering u on
From sound options
Tone the commentary volume down
tone the field effects down
Tone the Music volume down
Turn the CROWD noise up to max

And you have one of the best sounding sports game ever made.......the crowd noise is better than Madden.............and only PES would prolly just pip this for sound and thats coz goals in soccer happen less than trys, so its justified to have a louder roar........but Rugby 2006's crowd noise is amazing......they should have advertised this as a new feature.......it smacks u in the face, pulls ya hair out, and makes u hit pause, to hear if a neighbour/or flat mate is yelling "turn it down you deaf idiot", coz u wouldnt hear the complaints without hitting the pause button for silence.

i have school from 7 30 till 2 30 and then i have rugby from 6-8 so i will probably only be able to get in a few games tomorrow..

o well

at least ill have it for our long weekend this week!!

kicking for goal on elite is very very hard......near impossible for my default WL pleb

kicking in general play is awesome, and very good

maybe kicking for goal is easier with carters and wilkos etc, but for now, its bloody rediculous

possible bug in the mechanics too

ie if i go 120% power....................its going to spray....like miss by 20m
if i go 80% power.........its going to spray again
if i go 100% power...right on the top line.........it wont spray and u dont even have to hit the accuracy zone on the line

seems as though if u kick it with normal power u have more room for error
if u go for more or even less power, u have less room for error

2 ways to look at this
a. bug
b. players have specific zones, where they just kick, thus try to plop it over the cross bar or trying to hoof it out of the ground, will expose yourself to a higher risk of shanking it
i dunno how to take it really..........perhaps its DAMM.......he is my kicker God DAMM IT

ak - maybe i shouldnt say 'love'... i LOVE madden but for a few months there i wasnt playing it cause i had rugby feaver.

im so pumped there is ruggers on tv ruggers video games and ruggers in real life! AWSOME! LIFE IS GOOOD!

Its safe to say EA will hold onto the ruggers genre until konami or someone comes to play

finally Ruggers genre has a boasting ***le..........even those that dont know rugby, would rent this in the middle of Arkansas........play it with fun coz it is playable, they learn the rules, thus learn the sport itself, and all of a sudden, the american mid-west has a srtiking interest in rugby

i mean thats what Madden does to us in australia.
Madden 92 taught me everything, and got me interested
Rugby 2006 will do this to the non-playing nations
its a sports game worthy to be sentenced with FIFA, Top Spin etc
Still No Madden or PES, but still a ***le to be held in top regard in the sports gaming front.
Rugby doesnt take the backseat @ EA anymore........

im nz and havent got the game yet...so can anyone please tell me what are special abilitties of star players like dan carter, umaga, richie mccaw, habana, gregan, larkham and/or any other players worth mentioning?????

does the teams momentum metre go up when they have the ball?
do they pump up the croud or something?

From what ive read it just means they are faster, perform sidesteps, fends etc much better, and can cause injuries.
