He was born and in Flanders, but always spoke French, it's one of those things that sometimes happen if you live in the vicinity of Brussel. I could be wrong, it's been a while since we dedicated a few hours to him in French class. I remember a Dutch version of 'Le plat pays', but the French accent still sounds through every now and then
Not sure if you ever listened to Amsterdam, it's more tragic then it is romantic, but still very far from being simply a song about hookers.
My favourite of his (again, more a tragic topic then a romantic one but still

A rap song can have the most mushy, loveydovey text ever written, it will never sound like a romantic song to me. Must have to do with melody. Or personal taste of course
