Favourite 5 & Least Favourite 5 Features of our Games

favorite things
1. lions tour
2. lineout setplays in 04
3. number of player stats

least favorite things
1. very unrealistic/random/repetitive scrums and rucks.
2. players running lines off the ball carrier mirroring the ball carrier exactly
3. outdated player stats.
4. stat differences in speed and strength being far more noticable than the same difference in passing and handling
5. game was so so so easy!!

Favourites
-The sound track. the rugby games always have great indie music
-commentary
-the different cameras available

Least favourite
-no referee on the field
-game ALWAYS freezes when it goes to an injury. (not just on my game but on everyone that i know's version

Favourites:
+The licenses ('fraid so, made the game pretty authentic).
+Goal kicking was pretty good, definitely better than madden.
+Commentary (surprisingly not that bad compared to other current gen sports games)
+World League
+Soundtrack

Least Favourite:
+Lack of player and ball animations (became pretty predictable)
+Lack of player faces (saw way too many of the same faces on low-level players)
+Kicking; especially grubbers
+Lack of statistics (I love seeing players stats, madden is a great example)
+AI/difficulty

Favorite
1. The set/backline moves. Needed a bit of tweaking though.
2. invisible kick
3. Multiplayer. Needs online in next gen.
4. Large selection of teams. There can always be more though!
5. Being able to select a squad for a RWC campaign from all eligible players was always fun.

Worst
1. Sidestep was nigh on useless.
2. Set moves were a bit slow.
3. Lack of being able to customize current players.
4. Passing & kicking animations too long or slow.
5. AI was a bit "duh".

Favourite things were-
1-having the option to play as the lions, babarians, australia A etc.
2-having a type of manager mode
3-being able to change calls
4-options from the base of a ruck
5-camera angles

Least favourite-

1- not being able to choose from any team to start management mode
2- no young up and coming players
3- players dont really age or retire
4- game glitches which made it easy to hit certain gaps tat were always there ie to catch the ball from a kick off and run diagonally left you would usually go through.

from 06:
five favourite:
The world league mode, with transfering players
The lions tour
The practice modes, with good tutorials
Good range of players
Decent kicking controls

Five least favourite:
it had a glitch where you were in permenant shadow at one end of the stadium
the backs moves where way to slow and the defense were up on you before you could finish it
you should be able to move your own defense up as a line
the commentry was repetitive
sidesteps and handoffs need to be improved! they never seemed right

FAVOURITE FEATURES
1.World league (room for huge improvement, make it like a manager mode in fifa where u can pick a top team or a weaker team)
2.Lions tour (i know its not a lions year but its a great addition)
3.Leagues (super 14 and premiership were good to have but more are needed, magners league and top 14 especially, npc and curry cup would be very good also)
4.Create a player (it makes the game alot more enjoyable when you can put yourself into the game but theres room for alot of improvement there)

Worst Features
1.Tackling and Passing (very little animations with and without the ball, include a wider range of tackles and passes)
2.Unable to edit players (when you put a player out of there position in previous games they became incapable of catching a 5 yard pass,if u can edit them you can make them able to play other positions and keep up to date with their form in real life)
3.Too easy (a quick pass from your 1st centre in rugby 08 always lead to your second centre bursting through and being 1 on 1 with their full back, make a few difficulty settings for the new game so we dont get bored :) )
4.Not enough licences (no top 14 and magners league teams had proper kits and those extra 2 leagues give the game more variety)
5.Weather doesnt affect play (on a warm sunny day handling should be improved and skip passes should be easier to do and a wet day you shoukd be forced to keep the ball with the forwards and kick for the corners)
6.Poor set plays (you should use the D-pad to call your plays and have a wide range of them, maybe by pressing up its a simple switch but hold L2 and up and u do a dummy switch and go wide with the ball)

Favourite:
1.Pretty good selection of teams (though there should be more club side).
2.Stadiums all pretty well rendered, need more weather options.
3.Clothes get a bit affected by ground(mud).
4.Challenge mode(needs more authenticity).

Least Favourites:
1.Kicking animation too slow.
2.Ball physics, acted as if it was a football in 08.
3.Not enough club teams.
4.Weather conditions don't show affect on kits, players or pitch.
5.line outs too easy.
6.Highest difficulty too easy.
7.Not being able to customize any player whether be it boots or kit, also create a player mode too basic, needs more depth.
8.Player likenesses poor all round.

Faves:
1. Lions Tour
2. World League
3. Licences - great authenticity
4. Set plays from lineout/scrums
5. Handoffs (Need some work tho - can be so satisfying!)

Least Fave:
1. Difficulty levels need upping
2. Star players too easy too dominate with - especially if you have a 10 like Carter/Henson/Wilko who could kick miles further than anyone else
3. Size of players doesnt seem to impact enough on collisions - running in with Shane Williams should feel a lot different to running in with Sonny Bill
4. Predictable player animations (think a next gen console may help this massively)
5. Support lines from players should be more varied, and better players should run better angles

Likes
1. World League ( good idea but needs work as it is repetitive and at times boring)
2. All Black haka
3. Lions tours in previous games
4. Challenge mode (would be even better if it involved classic teams)
5. Set plays in rugby 04

Dislikes
1. Poorly researched player stats (most southern hemisphere plays have poor stats and some players stats are almost identically similar).
2. Players faces ( Cory Jane is bald in '08)
3. Lack of tournaments
4. Lack of diffuculty
5. Impact players ( good idea but some players are just ridiculously too good)

5 favourites:

in 06 there was a good variety in tournaments.

5 dislikes:

the lack in variety when passing. it was always just down the line; the only way you could launch strike runnerd or anything was from set plays. i'd like it if the computer tried to have it so you didnt have to select it or anything, and let the play go freely.

the goal kicking could be improved

the fact that tiny guys like harry ellis could dump tackle someone like rickie mccaw or george smith when they are pelting it at them. on that note, the game has no real concept of momentum in or out of the tackle

the ball doesnt bounce realistically, and when there are only a few different types of kick. no chips, no realistic cross kicks or anything like that. it would be great to have some ball physics like fifa! (even though you would have to account for the shape of a rugby ball...)

5 good things:
Stadiums
Chalenge Mode
In 08 better graphics
Range of sets
Massive hits

5 bad things:
Lack of online
Annimations
Difficulty
Scrums, Lineouts and Rucks
No quick balls from rucks

5 Good;
Graphics
Team (roster) Editor
Set Moves (from attacking platform)
Goal Kicking (the best its been so far, doesn't need to be changed imo)
Licensing

5 least favourite;
No tournament editor (this would have given 08 so much more mileage)

Rucking (to unfair against stronger teams, impossible to recycle own ball), Often you have to wait for players when you already have guys standing there, first on the scene should be first in! No need to wait for forwards

World League Mode

CPU Results always seemed to be the same. There was no allowance for upsets by cpu v cpu. I.e. England would always beat Scotland....well Scotland should have won one game every 5 or 6.

The game needs to not be so straight. All the players line up in perfect positions. The rucks always wait for the forwards. The game needs to be a bit more 'jumbled', if you've gone through 6/7 phases of play, players will be mixed up and all over the park

5 Good Things :

Moves available of a scrum etc and the way you can select during gameplay, Licensing, Big hits, Stadiums, kicking

5 Bad Things:

Passing is too uniform, if you look at the trajectory of the ball on fifa perhaps, there are a number of different outcomes and possibilities for the flight of the ball depending on the player, timing , pressure used etc.

Players need to be more dynamic, and have more depth when it comes to running, getting tackled, breaking tackles, passing, stepping etc. again, refer to fifa. The players have a number of different ways of reacting in certain situations i.e. with strength, speed etc. as opposed to everyone having the same running style, step, and general feel when it comes to gameplay

Movement need to be more realistic etc, like the introduction of switches and realistic dummy passes would improve the game vastly, again look at fifa's variation on passing (chip, loft, or on the floor) and their modifier for shots and skills (e.g. the dummy shot, the slow dribble feature) and also have different ways that specific players execute these. also bringing in vital areas of the game such as being held up in, would be brilliant. perhaps a button bash or something along those lines to try and hold the ball up or put the ball down. and also have the option to dive in for a try which would create the opportunity to score a try if not otherwise possible by doing so.

Making tournaments more realistic would also be great. AGAIN, much like fifa including maybe the heineken cup with the league you play in etc.

graphics and realism in general need to be improved e.g. mud, rain etc or and making the event almost live televised

I dont have a favourite top 5 list or worst 5 list because i can't really remember the games too much however the things I'd love to see in the new rugby game : More competitions in Tournament mode such as The Currie Cup in south africa , a more diverse styles of play and much more .. To really become the next generation game , it would be good idea to have a look at the system used with fifa and nfl games done by EA , such as player development and a manager mode .. Maybe a be a captain in the world cup or something similar ... Thanks for reading , im sure HB studios will expand on all the ideas that have been floated their way
High hopes for this game :)

Favourites:
- World league mode (good to buy/transfer players and make an awesome team)
- Big hits animation (although there could be a larger variety)
- Camera angles and cut scenes (got to love the scuffles and being awarded the trophy)
- Create a player (so easy to do and sign him up into any team)
- Incorporation of national anthems during World Cup games

Least Favourite:
- Crowd animation (the crowd is a bunch of wobbling 2D figures, its been the same since 04, I'm sure PS3 & 360 can handle the extra detail)
- Turnover randomness (the ruck/breakdown needs a lot of work, any player should be able to pass the ball out from the ruck)
- Kicking animation (too slow, too easy to get smashed while kicking and knock it on)
- The whole forward pack following the ball carrier like sheep
- Repetitive animations (there needs to be more tackle, sidestep, ball carrier contact animations etc.)

5 Favourites:
- world league.
- being able to create your own players.
- IT IS REALLY FUN!!!!
- i like the tackle animations, and the animations in general. though there could be more ;).
- The commentary is brilliant!!!

5 Least Favourites:
- when a player has broken through the line, the entire opposition follows them in a big pack.
- when a player is out of position, they suddenly lose the ability to catch the ball.
- the game is far to easy.
- every player model looks more or less the same.
- the breakdown is really poor. If you are playing as japan against new zealand for example, it nearly impossible to win a ruck.

Good Things

* Can make huge hits.
* Feautures Bledisloe Cup.
* Stadiums are realistic - with high stadium tiers, theres less wind.
* Brian Habanna is the quickest guy on the game.

Bad Things

* The defenders run round in huge groups after the ball.
* Graphics are rubbish.
* Create a Player is very bad and limited options on boots and the tape looks rubbish round the head.
* No altitude kicking - when playing in SA, no long range kicks.
* No quick ruck steals/turnovers.

Pros.
1. Lions tour was awesome
2. Variety of competition
3. Stadia and licences
4. World league
5. Variety of try dives etc

Cons.
1. Rucks
2. Hard wasn't hard AI
3. No cups etc within club season mode - make it a career!
4. Scrolling down names etc was soooooooooo annoying going one at a time!
5. Commentary and crowd songs

1. Too easy. Even on the elite level you can easily put 30 past the All Blacks with lesser teams such as Japan.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
2. The opposition is too predictable on defense and attack. When the backline lines up a certain way on defense or attack you can tell before the play what they are going to do.<o:p></o:p>
3. The player creation faces are too similiar. Need more variation. Also the limits on the created player weights with respect to height must be looked at (not sure if this is only in the pc 08 version), but if you want to make a prop who is 183cm tall his maximum weight is 104 kg. This is not very realistic. There should be no limit on weight with respect to height.<o:p></o:p>
4. The rucks need to be looked at. Losing or winning the ball is all too random.<o:p></o:p>
5. Would love there to be a way to edit existing teams and players. If a team goes through a slump during the creation of the game, they are doomed to be poor forever even if they improve after the game is released. the same goes for existing players. Would love to be able to edit team attributes as well as player attributes and heights and weights.<o:p></o:p>
6. Game is too structured. Forwards never stand in the backline, while the backs never ruck over.7. Really like the world league mode. <o:p></o:p>
