Far Cry 2

Should I buy FC 2 or COD 5. I think maybe FC2 cause' by now everyone on COD will be awsome and I will get owned. I might get FC2 and wait for COD 6. What do you think?

I knew about it on the PC - The genesis kit for Far Cry 1 was its only redeeming feature - but had no idea they were also packaged on the consoles.

Oh aye, the first Far Cry on the Xbox and 360 had the map editor too. You should see some of the tropical paradises I made on the 360 version.

Really, you should. I need someone to gamerscore boost with.

I picked this up for 20 quid in HMV's sale, and have to say, I'm very impressed.

As people have pointed out, it's slow paced, but I like that. The real selling point for me is the AI - they don't just madly rush in and then shoot you from close range, they take cover and sneak forwards or try to flank you. They also don't have supernatural ability, so if you snipe from long range, then stealthily move positions, they won't see it, and may keep attacking where they think you are. Also, when they're shot, there is an impressive range of reactions. I've seen people drop, only to get up again and stumble around heavily wounded before finally slumping down again, sometimes even propped against objects and still able to raise a pistol at you if you don't finish them off.

All of this makes for some very nice pitched battles, and definitely rewards a considered approach to attacking guard posts etc - nothing more satisfying than sneaking up close in bushes, chucking in a molotov, then gunning them down in the ensuing chaos...

The open world is a nice touch - feels very organic and keeps on throwing surprises at you. I'm not sure how long I'll keep playing it, but for 20 quid I'm very confident I'll get my money's worth...

I agree with all of this.

These are the good things about the game
