I'm not liking the constant re-use of the word "Short" I'm hearing so often. I want it to last me months (so it keeps me out the pub, vis-a-vie I stop being broke). Does it have replay value?[/b]

Like i said, i am replaying it now. There are so many places to visit, quests to do and people to meet. Sure, just doing the main quest will take you 10 to 14 hours, but if you set out t do everything that can be done, you are looking at over 100 hours of play. That's plenty for me.

Depends on what you want out of the game. I am informed that there are four main endings (The Good, The Bad, The Coward and The Corrupt) so you could play to get them I guess. Personally, I feel the quests are a bit too stilted for me to play through again on the 360 and id pick Fable 2 for replayability. Perhaps when the downloadable content comes out. If it's free. Or is cheap and has gamerscore. Definately if its free and has gamerscore. No way i'd pay 2100 points like they want for that Oblivion expansion though.

I suggest we all play Halo more as a countermeasure for your pub antics.

For reference, I managed to 1000 it in just under half that. But there are a few mini quests that I didnt do I suspect.

That being said, I actually liked Oblivion, and I certainly wasnt expecting a true heir to Fallout anyways (their characterisation of the Brotherhood of Steel is completely off the first two games for one). It definately rivals Fable 2 for "shortest RPG if you solely pursue the main quest", but I enjoyed my time in the Capital Wasteland.[/b]

A friend of mine finished Oblivion with a level 4 character, just doing the storyline, so I guess you can make that pretty short too. But I think he just avoided levelling up. I've not actually played much Oblivion. I have the GOTY edition but I was originally put off by the world auto-levelling to keep pace with you idea. But I guess most rpg's do that now.

Since I have been restricted to a laptop for the last 3 months I played Fallout and was surprised at how quickly I got through it. Great game, but our expectations were less back then :)

well depending on some decisions you make ie blowing up a whole town you lose all of those quests from that town. there is also quite a few side quests and exploring you can do as well. if you just do the main quest/story the game is indeed short. They have been pushing the dlc adding quite a lot more hours etc to the game but it is unknown when that will come out and what the pricing on it will be.

Yes it is very similar to Oblivion, but Oblivion done better. After playing FarCry 2 i was initially dissappointed with the graphics, but the fun of constantly finding something new as you explore the huge world really makes up for it in my books.

Broken Steel arrives in March. Here, players will be recruited into the Brotherhood of Steel, and be swept up in the furious termination of all Enclave supporters in the Capital Wasteland. Broken Steel takes Fallout 3 past the conclusion of the main quest.[/b]
Doing my best to skirt around any potential spoilers, I think this may be a bit impossible for my character...

I was quite dissapointed to be honest.

It's not a bad ***le its just not my type of FPS/styleee.

I like to go in all gun blazing but unfortunently if I did it with this ***le, I'd get very much raped.

I have really enjoyed it so far. It has the right mix of action fps moments and rpg elements for me. I never made it very far in oblivion as the game was too heavy on the rpg side for me. I think having played some of the previous fallout games has helped me identify and fit into the world a lot easier too. I've also listened to things like the afternow which really help set the mood for the post apocalyptic wasteland future portrayed in fallout 3 which I guess you neither like or hate. That's also probably why I didn't like oblivion that much as it was too heavy in the fantasy and dungeon side for me.

Bethesda have always reused their textures, it's like when you play oblivion and you enter the same dungeon all the bloody time. I would have much preferred Interplay's Van Buren, I guess i'll have to wait until Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 are released until i can get my quality RPG fix.

I won't lie, I think I spermed just a little when I started playing the first.

Only really noticed this game recently.
Definitely getting it for Christmas.
One question, can it be run on the same engine as Oblivion? My PC isn't the best, but it can do Oblivion with moderate ease... And I really WANT this game. D:

it is based on the same engine as oblivion with some tweaks so you should be ok. You may just have to turn down a few of the settings a bit compared to what you ran oblivion at.

Well, I never really had Oblivion at full power, but it was about mid-settings... Should be enough I suppose, if I tweak the settings of course.

Im about halfway through the main quest and side quests and have already cloked up 50 hours. Theres so much to do and the combat and exploring are great. Dont like peoples heads coming of though
