England's Argetine Adventure

This England team will get torn to pieces by any decent team with defence like this, it's really sloppy.

Nice one Strettle - really fail to see what he brings to a side other than an enormous schnozz.

Edit: Did Corbs just get carded while I was typing that?!

Just saw the replay of Corbs getting carded, such a stupid decision. Crobs binds legally and the XV binds on his arm. Drags him down and Corbs is carded, all infront of the ref. That is just appauling reffing.

Also I don't think the ref quite understand what it means to obstruct a player. The XV are constantly doing it.

well wtf, they're playing pretty damn well since I came on around 65min in...score was 14-41 then !!..what's happened ? England have had enough or smt...

man that CONSUR team doesn't need a whole lot to be srsly threatening on attack, but they've got a lack of punctuation points, a hard time finishing...always that little astray pass...

well that was fun, c ya.

Considering Farrell is away with the Lions, Flood is being rested, Ford is maybe a year or so too young and that Myler was initially left out of the squad and that he's relatively old (28), this was probably Myler's one shot at making England. He didn't do much with ball-in-hand, only slotted 3/7 kicks, missed touch with a penalty, and kicked straight into touch on a kick-off. England management didn't bring Burns on at any point, probably emphasising that this was Myler's shot, and that Burns is being saved for the tests.

Yeah, not a great performance - scoreline flatters England a bit (though we were dominant when we scored most of the tries).
Kind of answers a few questions on some players for the tests.

I'd go for:

1. Corbisiero
2. Webber
3. Wilson
4. Launchbury/Lawes
5. Attwood
6. Wood
7. Kvesic
8. Morgan
9. Dickson
10. Burns
11. Wade
12. Twelvetrees
13. Joseph (or Burrell)
14. May
15. Foden

16. Buchanan, 17. Marler, 18. Doran-Jones, 19. Lawes/Launchbury, 20. Johnson (or Vunipola, but Binny only plays 8), 21. Wigglesworth, 22. Myler, 23. Eastmond (though I wouldn't be adverse to seeing 22. Eastmond, 23. Brown).

I think Kyle and Foden were the only ones who really put their hands up in that match.
Billy imposed himself, but he's not looked the player he was at the beginning of the season.

I think whenever we have a foreign commentator we should have "Weeglesworth" on. Sounds hilarious when they say it.

First off I feel like a massive *** as, moments after my disparaging comments about Bill Bulinpola's (or whatever we're calling him now) butter fingers he scored a hatrick.

As has been mentioned CONSUR were much more of a challenge than the Barbarians or even the South African Barbarians on the tour last year. With that in mind it is pretty positive that an England 2nd XV (and arguably the starting team weren't even England's 2nd XV) got a solid win. We looked good in attack, with Foden really adding that go forward from 15 that has been missing since last years Six Nations and Eastmond looking very promising at 12. Indeed we've suddenly gone from having the much maligned (unfairly so I think) Barritt as our only international inside centre to potentially having Twelvetrees and Eastmond battling it out over the shirt.

It wasn't a perfect performance by any means. The scum demonstrated how much work we need to do to develop strength in depth in the tight five while the difference Kvesic made when he came on was indicative of how important a player he's is going to be for England. Also, while our defense was fairly solid (I know some won't agree with this) we seemed to have far too much space in behind with CONSUR exploiting us with little chips over the defensive line on a number of ocassions (including for the best of their tries). Something Argentine might well look to exploit too.

All in all though a great game to watch (I'm tempted to watch more games in foreign languages now) and a solid start to the tour for England.

Not sure if that's why he went in so slow on his third, and seemed to want to get the ball away so someone else could score, but it seemed as if even he was embarrassed to be scoring a hat trick. Two off the tail of lineouts and one stroll in...

Generally agree.

Billy has been in poor form since announcing his move to Saracens, although he has been reasonably effective despite this.

I think in time Kyle could potentially be a great foil for 36, although he is obviously very raw.
I also feel for Barritt, people focus on his limitations, and gloss over the fact that there isn't really anyone demonstrably better defensively in world rugby.

To be fair, Henry Thomas is the weakest of our potential future tight heads in the scrum.

Kvesic has been extremely disruptive at the breakdown in both matches, I'm hoping he developes in the mould of Hooper.
I think he is a similar player, time will tell if he can be of the same quality.

Definitely a strange game, very enjoyable in patches.
I'm still not sure how the tests are going to pan out...

Into a subpar premiership lock...?

I think he means Aussie openside :p

Best thing is, I think we're only going to see Kvesic get better. We've seen what we can do at Worcester - it's going to be really cool what he can do with the facilities, HC exposure and mentors (Andy Hazell, Andrew Stanley) at Gloucester.

I'd certainly like to see Barritt retained in the England setup. Similar to how Farrell has been suggested as an ideal player for muddy, slow ball games I think Barritt can excell against certain oppo. Picture this: 2015 WC knock out game against South Africa, who do you want standing in the twelve channel when Pierre Spies is running down it, Barritt or Eastmond? Just a thought.

Kvesic gives me the horn. Him, Launchbury, Cole (his loose work is superb) and Wood/Robshaw combined? Yes please.
