England v France

Hmmm... Flutey vs Jauzion.

This ain't going to be pretty from an <strike>English</strike> Kiwi perspective.

France starting XV has been announced

Marconnet Szarzewski Faure.
Thion Nallet (cap.)
Chabal Harinordoquy Dusautoir

Parra Trinh-Duc

Heymans Jauzion Bastareaud Malzieu
Médard

Remplaçants.- Kayser, Domingo, Picamoles, Bonnaire, Tillous-Borde, Traille, Fritz

All in all a good selection. Chabal back as a 7/8, Bastareaud in the center to counter Tindall.[/b]

Still not a fan of the fact that we have no kicker. It almost cost us the match in Wales. And we know games against the english are always close.
Apart from Trinh Duc it's pretty much my dream team so far though so we'll see.

Strettle is always a danger, players like him or Geraghty represents the touch of craziness that the english backline need IMO. We saw that the last time we lost at Twickenham...

I hope that Bastareaud will break his leg during the first minutes, it should not be a tough job for him.

Will it'll be Monye playing anyway. Monye is basically a sprinter and nothing else... Varndell with good PR.

Agreed on Monye. Why not Ojo ? He looked good on his first caps.

Not picking Goode, with his good knowlage of french rugby and his hability to deliver some nice kicks for his wingers is a bit silly, especially with that 'rush defense' by the frenchs. Ellis is still there too.

England team to face France:

Delon Armitage (London Irish), Mark Cueto (Sale), Mike Tindall (Gloucester), Riki Flutey (Wasps), Ugo Monye (Harlequins); Toby Flood (Leicester), Harry Ellis (Leicester); Andrew Sheridan (Sale), Lee Mears (Bath), Phil Vickery (Wasps), Simon Shaw (Wasps), Steve Borthwick (Saracens), Tom Croft (Leicester), Joe Worsley (Wasps), Nick Easter (Harlequins).

Replacements: Dylan Hartley (Northampton), Julian White (Leicester), Nick Kennedy (London Irish), James Haskell (Wasps), Danny Care (Harlequins), Andy Goode (Leicester), Mathew Tait (Sale).

Why not Ojo, indeed! That teams hardly fills me with confidence despite the marked improvement by replacing the over-rated Hask-wit with a decent 6. Just a pitty poor old Croft won't have a chance to shine being as that god-awful front row will be shunted all over the park.

Andy Goode doesn't play for Leicester Tigers any more, he has become a coujou zebra (nickname of the CABistes).

explains it then,

surprised to see Kennedy dropped and not Borthwick but obviously I'd be an idiot to expect Johnson to put his hand up and say I've been a complete clueless *** by picking Borthwick for the last 10 matches.

French press should go to town on Lievremont if they don't get the win on Sunday.

French press don't seem to find anything to say against him for this weekend's selection at least. It is pretty much all the guys in form on the field.
Once again, I like Trinh Duc but he's unpredictable and has no kick at all, apart from him I can't find a single player inferior to his opposite number.

*Sees England team* :bond: :Forum58: :roflrol: :roflrol: :roflrol:  :bulb: :bana:

well I'm not overly bothered by the changes he's made, I'm only saying that the French press should go to town on Lievremont should they fail to beat that England side, cause they're not up to much at the moment.

Not quite sure what more someone like Foden hs to do to at least earn a place in the squad. You couldn't possibly drop Armitage, he's been England's best player, but not having Foden on the bench the way he's currently been performing seems bizarre.

Having said that, it does mean we get to play him at the weekend instead, which is good news.

1) decide if he's a 9 or a 15

2) take his small chance when he had it; ineffective apps. off the bench for inexperienced players are fine... shockers full of about 50 useless box kicks do you no favours.

If he's a 9, then he's 3rd choice. If he's a 15 then no way is he better than Armitage, which means he has to compete to make the 22 shirt with every other not-picked outside back, and there are a number I can think of who I'd rather have in my squad.

--------------------

Think Haskell's unlucky to get dropped when Easter keeps his place; but Croft certainly deserves his chance. When we usher back Tom Rees to 7 for the Scotland game (hopefully), we can think about picking a 6 and an 8 from Haskell, Croft, Narraway and Crane. In theory. But of course Easter will stay because he's stayed so far in spite of better options...

Why Monye?

There's 4 wingers in this country who've made a mark at international level, and one with a sublime talent who bloody well ought to. Since Sackey's injured then we've got to have Cueto and either Strettle, Ojo, or JSD.

In fairness Shaw played well against LI on sunday... but he's ancient. Kennedy has suffered because Borthwick is captain which is unfortunate.

Hopefully for the Scotland game we can put Wilson in to the 22 to get him blooded instead of Julian White.

Reckon England will win this game but the French front 3 will dominat the English front 3!

He was clearly following a game-plan as set to him agauinst Italy - Anyone who's ever seen him play in either the 9 or 15 shirt will know his natural instinct is to run at the opposition or spread the ball, never to kick it. If he's got no chance when following the instructions set to him by <strike>Rob Andre</strike> Johnson, then he's clearly becoming a victim of nepotism... Despite all those kicks, England backline improved 100-fold after the shoddy service from Ellis was brought to a halt (who I may add recieved the single most undeserved MOTM I'll ever see for that ****-poor performance).

As for the full-back debate. Meh. Armatidge has done nothing to warrent being dropped even if he's never set the world alight... He's mediocre, which is perfect for Englands style of play.

:D He'll rip his leg off and use it to club the english to death.
