England Six Nations Squad 2025

Tindall also wore 12 but he was an outside centre. This is because Bath didn't have a number 13 back in the day due to superstition.
Shirt was retired out of respect after a player died on the pitch (or possibly died from an injury suffered on the pitch) having survived WW1
tradition =/= superstition

Weirdly that did lead to a superstition: Greenwood wore 13 despite playing 12 (because of the above) and ended up only wanting to wear the 13 shirt for the rest of his caps as he was very superstitious about his kit (lucky socks etc.) so wanted to stick with it

I must admit - I'd missed Greenwood wearing 13 beyond playing alongside Tindall / Catt.
Happy to accept though

Be interesting to see who comes in for the injuries

Slade or Daly at 13? Not a particularly huge Daly fan but he went well and now has 70 mins alongside Dingwall under his belt - I'd probably keep him there. He kicked better today than Slade has all tournament, too, and Wales' back three have looked poor under the high ball

I reckon TC will be fine - looked to be repeated cramp rather than injury and SB will start him if he's >50% fit, but if he's not then BC is an easy switch to start.
Do we then go 5:3 (Roebuck? Steward?) or 6:2 (Coles in to have Hill solely as backrow? Or do they roll the dice on Pollock?), though

Daly, and then Beard to the 23 shirt for me

I like Beard, but I'd be more tempted with pairing Ojomoh and Dingwall, as a pair of interchangeable centres.
Partly Bath bias, partly because IMO IC is the more important position to find alternatives for, so why not try two of them simultaneously, given that both are properly comfortable in either centre position

Not against that idea at all but probably one for the summer - can't see anyone brought in this week making the 23: team announcement in 4 days, day off tomorrow, so only three days to stake a claim

Particularly as Next week is a live fixture. If it was a dead rubber (Or a de facto dead rubber) then maybe.

It's an odd situation we can win the 6N given we got am LBP vs Ireland and TBP vs France and Italy, the poor performance in the win vs Scotland makes us rely on France to lose or not get a BP for us to win if we get a TBP win vs Wales.

I think this has been a good 6n for us and I'm really not as doom and gloom as some on here. I think we need to bring in an attack coach take us to the next level. Blackett or Vesty or steal the Wales head coach ;) (get IFW to send him a message ;) )

How does a new attack coach fix our defensive issues, because they seem bigger at the moment.
