The only reason that has the ring of truth to it is that I literally cannot image any coach instructing us to kick high to a wing and FB the size of our locks.

IF that really was the case then drop F Smith, or at least move him to 15, and give Itoje bucketloads of stick as the on field leader.

If true F Smith should be shot into space and Marcus given back the 10 jersey. He's the only one following team orders.

I can't agree with that. Mitchell is heads up rugby and he literally did a box kick every 3 phases.

Big BUT though. As Faz won a load of caps at 12 we can put Ford in and become world beaters.

I’d guess on the same rationale you could get Back in at 7 with both Worsley and Hask having played a fair bit at 6?

Leonard would have to start over Marler.

I'm always a bit confused by how many most-capped players came out of the Lancaster-Jones-Borthwick era. Very few of those players spring to mind as England legends, but is that because they're too fresh in the memory? Because they weren't successful enough? Is it just a product of the modern world's sport science and player pathways?

Tight five is handy, back three too. Front row, half backs and centres … not so much.
