England Six Nations Squad 2025

No players being released back to their clubs this weekend. So for those like Chessum with barely any game time under their belts, that's it.

This time it's the English talking themselves up 😆😆😆

All for a bit of blind optimism. You can be upbeat without making yourself a hostage to fortune - suspect the journos will enjoy throwing that back in his face in a few weeks after another 2 or 3 win championship.

What he's said is fine and it is a good point. If we played like we did against Ireland and especially don't drop off in the last 20m, then we can beat any team.

But we don't know what tactics we'll use yet and will the Stevie B spreadsheet let us carry on attacking in the last 20m.

Questions I want to see answered,

Will Itoje continue to give away silly penalties as captain.

Will Marcus and whoever plays 12 actually pass and look like they've met before.

What will Borthwick do with players like Earl who aren't in form.

Will Freddie be exposed again or has he actually improved his mobility/ pace.

And finally who does he actually pick for the back row.

Pretty big IF though and the last 20 has been a massive issue that won't be fixed overnight.

The other big question is whether we look like we have a clue what's going on in our defence. We're also without IFW and Underhill, both of whom can make a difference at this level.

Obviously anyone can beat anyone else on any given day. Arguably Ire might be weaker without Farrell around and they are aging. Last year's win was excellent, but it was at home and it was very late on - it wasn't a performance for the ages. It's hard to see that we open with anything other than a fairly comfortable, if hard fought, defeat to Ire. Fra are also likely to be a very different beast to the post RWC hangover lot of last year.

I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape over really bland media interviews
What's he meant to say? Literally every player and every coach will say the same
He's not going to come out and say "Yeah we'll probably lose 3 games minimum, maybe even 4 or 5"

Take your point, but it's just a bit silly when you look at our recent track record and the calibre of some of the opposition.

He can acknowledge the areas where we need to improve without making daft statements like that. Or say that we aspire to be in the mix.

Yesterday's fish and chip paper soon enough, but I just find that sort of stuff irritating. Fight your corner, but in an honest and rational way.
