England Six Nations Squad 2025

If Mitchell and JVP are out then who starts vs Ireland? Randall, Quirke, Spencer. I'd go Quirke on the bench I think Ireland away would be a real trial by fire to start him but thinks worth it for the impact he could bring.

Starting Randall or Spencer will determine what SB is thinking about the gameplan.
Hopefully Spencer, he wasn't bad in the AIs, certainly not bad enough to be jettisoned
Quirke the most like-for-like swap with Mitchell but hasn't got the minutes under his belt to start an international game - he only played 50mins on the weekend because of his graduated return to play after his quad strain
Randall....I just don't trust his fundamentals enough, but as he's the only OG player left does that mean he's front of the queue?

I suspect we'll end up wondering why we bothered with Spencer. He doesn't seem to be able to play without having a shedload of time with his outside half, just stutters at the base until he's forced into a bad box kick

This gives Hill a shot I think? Chessum likely to be in the row at some point which leaves a bench spot for Hill to cover that and 6?

Borthwick seems to like Randall more than a lot of people do so I could see him starting him.

Think it will be him vs B.Curry for the extra forward spot on the 6:2

My guess is:
4. Itoje
5. Martin
6. CCS
7. T.Curry
8. Earl

19. Chessum
20. Willis
21. Hill/B.Curry

I think Chessum will be on the bench, rather than starting, because Martin won't go the full 80 so they'll want a lock on the bench rather than someone covering from the pitch

Tbh Arther Clark is a left field pick, it out of the blue, pretty sure he is a big lad though and plays for Gloucester so much be playing well if he's still being picked with that handicap.
Well it definitely seems like the A squad is being properly used as the stepping stone it's supposed to be.

Clark has been consistently good and outshone Tizard vs. Australia A. Isiekwe is injured and Tuima probably not really an option given Exeter's form.

I agree Tuima given the form of the team may not be an option but when he comes on he adds alot of carrying power and I hope in the future he can prove himself but right now no.

I do like Clark tbh he's a good player

Never really seen the fuss about Tuima TBH (or Fisilau for that matter). Decent enough but I can't see anything that would mark out a potential point of difference at international level.

Haven't seen much of Clark, but quite liked what I have. He's also 2.01m which is kind of my lock starting point.

I think 'the fuss' about Tuima is his size and potential to be a heavyweight in the engine room - kind of like a Paul Willemse/Meafou type of lock. We don't have any others like that which makes him interesting. However, it's mostly potential rather than reality right now.

Yeah i agree...and to be fair to Tuima he was playing exceptionally well in that role for Exeter, which is what created the attention. Hes not hitting those heights this season...but which Exeter player is?

Fisilau is another 12 that got away ;)

Gloucester list him at 126kg and 203cm (so 6'7), I have seen him in games and thought he's looked good but probably not seen him enough to know more about him.

With Coles, Chessum and Itoje all LH locks, we need another TH lock for when Martin is injured.

Supposedly Mitchell expected to be fit for the Ireland game, just can't train this week
Other four missing "at least" the Ireland game

Good news if true. But I won't be holding my breath.

But even so…..if these extended camps do actually have real value, then your key man missing half isn't great….and probably the most important part as presumably much of hard work and familiarisation is done this week, tapering off next towards game time.
