Not a good week for George.

Sounds like a feeble last quarter from Sarries against Castres second string. Hesitate to draw parallels with England, but a bit of a familiar theme there.

I would like to think so but, based upon recent squads, it might be Oghre.

It sounded to me like Saracens' attitude to the game was wrong. Somewhere between arrogance and complacency and thinking they just needed to turn up to get the win.

I can sort of see why given Castres lineup and away record, but from what I read it sounds like Castres were really fired up, caught Saracens cold, Saracens rallied got into the lead and then took their foot off the gas. From an England POV that sounds quite familiar and from a leadership POV it's not a good look for Itoje's captaincy credentials.

So George doubtful, IFW, Underhill and Furbank out.

Chessum (fitness?), Martin, Heyes, JvP and Steward have just had their backsides handed to them on a plate.

Itoje, Dan, Earl and Willis all involved in a chastening defeat too. Also bit of a bad one for Bath.

At least the Sale and Saints players should be reasonably upbeat although Sleightholme didn't play this weekend and is having to manage his hamstring carefully.

Add in last year's results and it's hard to imagine the mood in camp being too upbeat.

The Quins lads should be pretty upbeat after the Glasgow game.

I don't think club form in Europe has that much to do with England TBH. If we were Ireland or Italy with one club providing 80% of our 23, it would be more of a concern. I'd be looking at individual performances more and there will be a few going in with confidence after the weekend - the Quins attack has been looking much better in the past couple of weeks which hopefully bodes well (assuming Marcus is at 10), CCS is back in form, Murley and Roebuck are providing a good selection dilemma.

My concern is that we don't seem to have many if any players we can rely on to give at least a 8/10 performance. For me World Class players not only have that special touch, but consistently play well. Look at Dupont, even his bad games are better than many other SH's. England simply have too many players who might turn up, might not and that's not good enough for international rugby.

Yep, but Castres don't win away and it was their second string.

Possibly, but Martin is probably the only definite starter out of those three. Chessum probably would be if he had a few games under his belt, but when the only one he's had is that shellacking, it's got to put a question mark over his claim on going straight back into the 6 shirt. Particularly when CCS (the man in possession) just put in a MOTM performance.

Heyes should probably be in the 18 shirt, but that could easily go to AOF.

I'd be more worried about Steward …

The other way of looking at it is that the Tigers players would see it as a chance to prove a point.

I wonder if Borthwick actually watched any of the matches this weekend. I've read before a lot of sporting coaches don't like to watch any matches in between announcing a squad and meeting up with the squad incase they start self doubting who they have selected.
